Dan Henderson's Camp Says No Deal With Strikeforce Is Imminent -

Dan Henderson is currently an MMA free agent considering all his options, but his camp says he is not close to signing a deal with Strikeforce or any other promotion after his negotiations with the UFC stalled.

Responding to a Yahoo Sports report that Henderson is "on the verge of signing" with Strikeforce, Henderson's friend and business partner Aaron Crecy said that wasn't the case, and that no signing with anyone is imminent.

"We had a brief get-to-know-you session with (Strikeforce) and met them for coffee, but to say he's close to signing would be a gross misrepresentation," Crecy said.

When reached by FanHouse, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said, "We've had dialogue with Dan but that's all I'd like to say."

Crecy said that Henderson wants to take his time and make sure he's making the right decision before he signs with anyone. He said Henderson has a hunting trip planned and would not make any decisions about his future before that. Henderson plans to attend the November 7 Strikeforce show in the Chicago area, but only as a guest who wants to see how the organization is run, and not as the promotion's newest fighter.

Henderson, who's coming off a knockout win over Michael Bisping at UFC 100, is widely regarded as one of the best fighters in the world at both 185 pounds and 205 pounds, and he held the Pride championships in both of those weight classes. Strikeforce doesn't have nearly the roster depth that the UFC has, but it could put him in the cage with several good opponents in either of those weight classes: Jake Shields, Jason Mayhem Miller, Cung Le, Nick Diaz, Robbie Lawler, Gegard Mousasi and Sokoudjou would all be potential opponents for Henderson.

Still, the fight Henderson really wants is a rematch with UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva, and that's why Crecy stressed that Henderson is in no way closing the door on getting back into the Octagon.

"Until something is signed," Crecy said. "Nothing is ever over."

The guys "not worth mentioning" in the MW division are still better, more entertaining fighters than all but three or four HW fighters.

lets see...Cung Le is to busy making movies to fight...Nick Diaz would rather smoke pot then show up to his fights..Sokoudjou does good for about 2 minutes untill he either gases or gets discuraged and gives up...henderson would be a fool to sign with strikeforce

despite what dana says if hendo moves to strikeforce the ufc is going to take a big hit in its weakest division
How is the UFC's MW division weaker than its HW division? Also, to the guy that wants Mousassi V Henderson, I could definitely be wrong but I predict that Mousassi V Hendo would end with Dan getting KOd. I hope that Henderson goes to Strikeforce but the guy that said he would be in the UFC is probably correct.

Dan Henderson is a legend and one of my favorite fighters

but he is getting old, he should stick to the UFC now,
because he will definitely lose in strikeforce

Dan will sign with the UFC, unless the UFC doesn't want him, but w/ the lack of competitors at 185 for Anderson I don't think this is the case. We will see marquart vs Hendo (barring injury).

the reason i have not signed a new deal for dan henderson's contract is because he cost me a lot of monies. he knocked out my most marketable fighter in the UK. now the brits will no longer buy payper views because they realize that their favorite over-rated fighter was just a marketing ploy to generate uk interest in the ufc...which is also the reason why we gave bisping the decision over matt hamill. dont worry brits, we are now building up hardy with his red mohawk as the best uk fighter. buy our pay per views.

UFC is a business 1rst and foremost
Don't forget guys, whenever this is legit or not. UFC is a private company who thinks about payperview buys, not about who should get the next title shot based on their ranking. Vitor Belfort is a better attraction then Dan Henderson and the fight will get more viewers. That's all there is to it.

Look what they did with Brock Lesnar. Lesnar had no place in the UFC, his signing created much controversy, but now he's heavyweight champ and probably pulled a whole lot of fans who did the crossover from WWE

I hope he signs with Strikeforce that way MMA in the U.S. would be even bigger. Think about it, Strikeforce has an AMAZING card for nov. 7 AND its gonna be FREE!! now thats gonna push the UFC to try and come up with something better and put on better fights then Strikeforce will try n out do the UFC and its just gunna be a back and forth effect between the UFC and Strikeforce for who has better fights and ratings. Its a Win/Win situation for the fans!! Yay! hahahahahaa

Dana is so worried to get Rampage back, but doesn't seem to care for great fighters (and coaches!!!!) like Hendo...I hope Strikeforce gets him...honestly, they seem to treat their fighters much better than the arrogant UFC managers...Further, there's very decent competition for someone of Hendo's caliber within SF.

if strikeforce gets hendo then they will have fedor moussasi hendo and aioki on loan from dream and can provide a good arguement for having equal caliber talent to the ufc

He did nothing to piss off Dana. Unlike Rampage and the like, Hendo doesn't talk too much...I'm sure, though, that he was unhappy for the UFC's decision to put a new comer, Vitor, for a title shot before him...He definitely deserves one because 1) his loss to Silva was a close one...He one the first round 2) his win over Bisbing was very impressive...Dana's selections for the title shot can be unfair for many deserving fighters...
Hendo would a great addition to Strikeforce's pool of fighters...Let's admit it: they're recruiting great fighters and (if they conduct a smart business) they will be a serious competition to the UFC...Go for it, HENDO, don't get tossed around by a whimsical Dana...

I wonder what he did to piss off White because he is getting no love or respect from the UFC.

i agree! give belfort another fight to see how he handles at 185 lbs , and keep nate and henderson as contenders to fight anderson silva and then the one who get the figth defend it if he wins vs the other one who got the second in this case let henderson waiting for the winner of nate vs anderson or let nate get the winner of anderson and henderson , i mean if belfort is that good he will have no problem beating a middleweight to get to the spider.

the Belfort fight for the title was a mistake! they should give the fight to marquat! and vitor another fighter this time at 185!!
and let henderson for the winner of Anderson vs Nate Marquart!
