Clay Guida: ‘I still feel I’m the best’

TV-Shows News

“I still feel I’m the best out here in the lightweights. It might take me another year to get that title shot…. I gotta give [Diego Sanchez] credit. He’s one of the first guys to take me down in the cage. He didn’t really do much with it, but he still scored some points. He brought a little bit of everything, kicks, punches, takedown, takedown defense…. It’s gonna set me back a little bit, but I’m already thinking about getting back in the gym and really taking this seriously.”

guida is a good fighter. sanches is a good fighter thaqt is about to get a shot at greatness. it will though be against a much different bj penn. if penn comes into that fight as prepped as he did agaoinst kenflo, diego go down in the third round. guida does need to work on some boxing. I feel he did enough to win that fight with sanches, but had he landed a few more punches he would have definately won. I dare someone to knowk him out.

Clay isnt bad
He has a nice agressive standup and his pace never slows, he fights ugly and everyone loves that. And he is a pretty good wrestler.

Keep it real
Guida got his ass kicked, he tough motha f***er though. I was rooting for him. He on my list now of people i would follow. But he aint the best on his feet, good on the ground. But watch the elbows they f***ed him up good. One word TRAIN. GOT THE HEART, GOT THE TOUGHNESS, GOT THE LUNGS, JUST NEED THE SKILLS. But he gets respect.

The way you feel and actually having a "W" instead of a "L" in the fight column, does make a difference.
Guida was beat plain and simple. it doesnt matter if he can with stand a freight train, or keep fighting with his brains hanging out, he lost.
Guida is too one dimensional, Diego showed to be more than that.
His guard is getting dangerous also.

If Guida got some striking to go along with his ground game he could be the best lightweights in the world.

guida's standup isn't great and in this match neither was his ground and pound....he never once rocked Sanchez...his only attribute was the beating he took and while still coming back for more
should have never been a split decision, clearly all sanchez

Sanchez beat the crap out of him the whole fight. Everytime Guida threw a punch he missed, both on the ground and standing up. He got rocked like 80 times in this fight and it doesnt matter how much damage he could take, its about how much damage he took and how little damage that Sanchez took. Guida sucks as a fighter and he will never be good. And he is a stupid cocky fighter that thinks he is the best even though he loses alot. The only way he wins is if he takes it to the ground and stay there the whole fight and takes it to decision. He will never be champion unlike Diego Sanchez who could turn into a great fighter.

Guida needs to learn how to inflict damage. Dry humping will not get him a shot at the title.

Great Fight
This was probably the greatest fight i have seen in a long time i believe this would make a great great rematch if they fought again especcially if sanchez gets the title and defends it against guida.

I feel like Guida is missing a skill. He definently has what it takes, excellent cardio, heart, chin, and wrestling. I would love to see him goto Greg Jackson

I agree Guida is a tank! work on his hands a little bit and he will get his chance. I do believe his window is small now. He will be in must win mode for awhile if he is going to see a shot at the strap!

Diego
Guida has heart, and withstood one of the worst beatings I have ever seen in that first round. But, it is clear he is not in the same league with Diego. Good fighter, not time yet.
