Dana White unimpressed by The Simpsons MMA episode

Although UFC President Dana White is a fan of "The Simpsons," he was not a big fan of the latest episode that aired last Sunday.

"I was disappointed," White told USA Today. "I think it was typical of people that don't know anything about the sport. I know it's for fun, but the second half of it really wasn't even funny."

White disagreed with a few of the concepts that the episode offered to viewers. For starters, he disliked the fact that it showed children (untrained and inexperienced) imitating jiu-jitsu moves on the playground. He also did not like the idea that the crowd left after Marge's fight to watch a drunken brawl in the parking lot.

"That's the Red Sox-Yankees game," he said. "That's not a UFC event."

White also did not approve of the promoter fighting or punching Marge.

"[The promoter says, ‘You're the first woman I've ever hit that I didn't love,'" he said. "Stuff like that really bothered me."

While last Sunday's episode, entitled "The Great Wife Hope," was anticipated by MMA fans due to its theme, White said that is just showed "how mainstream we're not."

"We like fighting," he said. "But to make it sound like the UFC crowd is this bloodthirsty crowd that shows up and just wants to see people get their asses kicked - that's not true. That's the stigma that the mainstream has of us."

However, White did say that he laughed at some parts during the half-hour episode over the weekend. According to USA Today, White thought that the scalper who had 200 tickets because his friends didn't show up, and the jiu-jitsu instructor who messed up Homer's back while saying that he is in "no pain" but then corrects himself to say that he feels "only pain," was funny.

    i find it funny that the simpsons would try to reach a new target audience, the MMA fan. by showing insulting caricature of them being mindless bafoons, kind of like reaching for women as a target audience and then showing them as submisive house keepers with little ability to controll their lives, oh wait thats marge... all the good simpsons writers write for Futurama(way better than the simpsons or family guy for that matter)

    I think Dana also didn't like being portrayed as real dic.k, but sure they messed a potentially great episode.

    Also don't say that the ufc-crow isn't a bunch of drunken brawlers, why else do the the cheer insanely at those matches that resembles a barfight and boos at Anderson Silva.

    Bottom line - the simpsons take a subject and poke fun at it for a laugh.
    Although I agree with Dana(for once) that a man hitting a woman and incouraging kids to fight was low.....and not funny at all.
    That shows they do not understand MMA
    MMA are highly trained atheles fighting in a controlled environment, not school kids or drunken brawlers
