Kimbo Slice vows to prove dana white wrong.

The former Elite XC star has been handed a place on the hit reality TV series in a move which has stunned UFC fans and the mixed martial arts community.
Slice said: "It's an opportunity for me to prove myself and show that I can be a mixed martial artist.

"I've come from the backyard and been a street fighter but it's time to step my game up.

"A lot of people have a lot of questions about if I can fight mixed martial arts style - how good is my ground game and all that bulls*** - but I'm coming in to prove myself.

"I'm coming in to kick ass, take names and continue to feed myself and my family - that's what it's all about with me."

White last year claimed he would pit 155lb star BJ Penn - the lightweight champion - against 235lb Slice if he were to ever fight in the UFC.

He said: "You know what would happen if Kimbo fought in the UFC? I'd put him in against B.J. Penn, and he would get annihilated.

"Kimbo has no credibility at all in MMA. I am telling you, BJ Penn would beat him."

    This is to the idiot above who said hes fought bigger people and once theyre on top you cant move them. Maybe you cant move them because you suck. I'm a pure 155lbs fighter and submit light heavyweights on a daily basis. granted Kimbo weighs more than a light heavyweight, but I dont have near the skill or strength of BJ Penn. So yes BJ would win on the ground.

    Size is nothing compared to skill. I know Tae Kwon Do is not a lot in UFC but I've fought people that are 185 and I'm 120. They are good at taking me down but I knock them out or hurt them enough for them to quit before I get taken down. BJ Penn vs. Kimbo Slice...It would be a good fight...too watch. BJ Penn would have to get a takedown. Once Penn gets a takedown (if he's on top or bottom) he works. I'm surprised he has lost before. Penn is my all time favorite MMA fighter and when I take BJJ i wanna be just like him.

    To Piper, my comment on Kimbo being too big was in reference to fighting BJ, you have to read the rest of the posts to catch up on the situation. To VOL, there is no way in hell you could school me on a damn thing, for one if you are a supposed fighter, you would know you cant base a fight on 2 said fighters against a set of 2 different fighters, if thats the case, Tank Abbott has Knocked Cabbage also but Kimbo knocked out Tank so you have no point there,second of all who the hell has Butterbean or Cabbage beat that is worth mentioning. BJ is one of my favorite fighters but i know he has conditioning problems also which will be multiplide when tangling with a much bigger opponent. Im not saying that BJ is at the same level as Kimbo because he is higher in skill and Im not giving Kimbo more kudos than he deserves. Im saying Kimbo is way too big for BJ point blank.

    u guys keep saying kimbo has no technique nd nothing but striking but obviously hes gunna train in those before he goes into it hes not gunna go in nd expect to win by pure strength. just like one of the first lesnar fights he tried to ocme out nd just brawl nd he got submitted. if kimbos out there to prove something he shud be smart enough to train in areas wheres he weak. theres no reason y kimbo can't be a ixed martial artist if lesnar can go from fake fighting to mma then kimbo shud have an easier job going from real fighting to real fighting with rules

    as much as i dislike Kimbo, i think he stands some what of a chance in TUF, he wont win it that's for sure. why? all he is, is a street fighter, he has no submission defence, no take down defence, no ground defence, no clinch defence, nothing that's going to help him in MMA or against an MMA Fighter. once he gets in that cage all he can hope for is a lucky knock out. and bj penn would get raped...... sorry i like the guy but 155 against a 235.....no chance in hell

    Anyone can beat Choi and Akibono but Kimbo is neither one of those guys. Kimbo actually throws punches and if one of those hits BJ on the chin, BJ goes to sleep point blank. Yes, BJ has way better skills and has beat bigger guys, but he hasnt fought a true heavyweight.

    BJ could beat hong man choi or Akibono, BJJ allows him to submit people no matter what the size which is why he's fought so many people heavier than him and been able to keep a positive record.     BJ Penn would own. A lot of people for wlovever reason fail to remember that BJ has been boxing since he was a kid. In fact, didn't he take up boxing before BJJ? Jesus, Kimbo needs to ditch the bikini wax landing strips on his chest. Just get the whole thing waxed off. He can afford it and he should be able to tolerate the pain.

    Im pretty sure it could be a good fight. Bj Penn can has a lot more skills yes but will get destroyed if he strikes vs kimbo. Kimbo is too big and can pass Penn's guard anyday, also Penn has huge advantage on ground given but i for one have wrestled and spare with bigger people and i stood no chance, once theyre on top your not moving them.So i think kimbo would win, that's just me.

    tru bj did hold his own he was throwin huge haymakers and was fightin at 187 while machida was 215 , 28 lb weight diff and was still managing to avoid take downs at times and keep swinging but machida did have an iron head and chin and overwhelmed pen
