Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort officially confirmed for UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi

Fabiano Farah, Belfort's manager, has officially confirmed that The Phenom will face Anderson "The Spider" Silva at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi.

Farah expressed his concerns over UFC 112 fight, that will take place outdoors: "I told them both they should come early because it will be an outdoor event, not indoors like they are used to, and that many factors and conditions will be different for them."

It was reported before that the UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva has recovered from his elbow injury and returned to training for Vitor Belfort. Anderson Silva regards Vitor Belfort as a worthy opponent. Vitor Belfort quickly defeated former title contender Rich Franklin in his last fight and will look to surprise Anderson Silva, who is currently undefeated in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Man its gonna be hot and humid if they're outside. Even at night in Abu Dhabi it can be 90 Farenheit.

This would be a match I'm excited to see. Both of them have very underrated ground game, both are excellent strikers. Silva has the edge in striking in my book, but the surgery and conditioning will play a part. Vitor has a legitimate chance to wear down the spider and look for a later rounds KO. Like I said....can't wait

Silva has underated ground game? His ground shouldnt even be close to classified as underated. He was on the ground with a olympic wrestler (Dan Henderson) and still tapped him. Belfort now he does have an underated ground game because he is known for striking and silva has become known for his striking because people have tried standing up with him lately which is not a good idea personally.

Anderson made his first MMA steps with Chute Box , so he likes to strike,as Rua,or wanderlei, but they all train and practice BJJ as well for years.

Anderson is as Lidell use to, great takedown defense and KO power, so why would he take a fight to the ground,he's not the best at it,and maybe don't like that, remember 2 of his losses were from subs,he learned from that.

He uses his weapons, mostly strikes;but don't underestimate his grnd.
Remember the Lutter fight,UFC 67, A.Silva got him in a triangle and
hitted him right on the head until the stoppage.

GSP,Fedor,BJ can take you anywhere in the fight, Anderson wants to Knock you out, and can avoid the danger zone 4 him.

It's what you call a well rounded Striker.

I guess rich franklin is like "How worthy of a title shot are you". If henderson could only manage a scrappy decision victory over franklin, and he was in title contention, then i think belfort should probably be up there with a KO.

Gotta feel for guys like marquardt who just have to fight time and time again, seemingly never getting into contention.

This could be a fight just like shogun vs Machida. Everyone thought machida was invincible, Shogun comes back with a bit of rust but still alright. And actually puts on a good show.

frist off!..... every 1 talks like silva is invincible! sliva never had faced a great striker! or really a reasonable skilled hands opponent standing up with him! lol! well he has got 1 now! vitor can f uck him up in a quick bad way! i cant wait! its not going to the ground! sum 1 will get ko! if vitor lands his counter hooks silva will get ko! mark my words! and vitor would make a better champ! he does not show off ! like silva! and he will fight any 1 ! bj vs edgar . will be good fight. but bj and gsp rematch would of been better!

You mean GSP and BJ re-re match.

Silva would never fight a great striker in the UFC, there's none...lol
Jones at 205 would be great fight I think, although Silva's experience is greater, Jon Bones crazy skills would be good match IMO.

I totally agree...Even though Silva has never lost in UFC, he has never faced as good of a striker as Vitor. And now Vitor has a total package of skills and his maturity level is as high as ever...I think Silva is more acurate, but Belfort is faster a bit..

    Anderson by Decision or
    Vitor by KO(TKO)

Nate was not a good striker when he fought Silva. He even said that he learned in that fight that he needed to work on that part of his game. Nate is 100% better striker than he was in the Anderson fight

i think Silva is gonna K.O vitor
silva's never been rocked or knocked down
liddell knocked vitor down when they fought, so i say silva wins via K.O on 2nd or 3rd round

although i wouldnt mind seein a 5round slug fest :)

    silva vs. belfort
I like Belfort's Christian conversion, but don't think he's ready for Silva.

Nor do I think he deserves a shot this quick.

There are some other younger bucks out there who probably deserve a shot first. They would probably give Silva more problems too, at this point. I think Belfort is still a little unproven, since he dropped out of the fight game for awhile--might be a tad rusty still.

just remember anyone can be beaten and even silva has been beaten ,a punchers chance .it only takes one shot and let's not forget belfort is an ex-champ and if he is on, then anderson silva could walk out an ex-champ ..belfort is not the kinda fighter you want to counter punch.you can't give him a chance to get going ..both of them can hit and both have great ground .. so it's a matter of who lands the hard shot first ..i have to say that i think it's going to be belfort in the second round..
