    not to mention, who the **** has diego fought that was really worth mentioniong, im not saying IS worth mentioning, cuz diego did beat joe daddy, but currently i think joe daddy would beat sanchez. nobody that sanchez has fought is even remotely close to bj. bj said it best himself 'sanchez has never fought a champion' . sanchez has fought all 'decent' fights, but nobody special.

    skill wise diego has no chance. the only chance he has is the only chance any overated fight has, and thats a punchers chance. being that bj has a solid chin, i dont see this happening. standing up bj easily wins that contest, take down defense , bj wins that department as well as grappling and the ground game. i give diego to the 3rd round tops. penn will outclass him in every area of this fight. Diego couldnt even finish quida, no offense to quida hes a tuff guy, and can take a massive beating, but skill wise he really isnt that great. Guida is maybe a 5 fight on a scale of 1-10, sanchez is maybe a 7 , penn is an 11. you people who honestly think sanchez stands a real chance, your dilusional.

    If anyone thinks Diego would beat Bj based on his fight with Guida that would be a huge mistake all Guida has going for him is wrestling and cardio and dont get me wrong I very much like guida but you cannot compare Guida to Penn theres no comparison Penn is all arount the better fighter greater hands way better bjj and his cardio is much better as we saw in the Florian fight just look at the fight with Joe Stevenson Bj destroyed Joe but when Diego fought Joe it was a much closer fight does that mean Bj will destroy Diego no. But I think it shows this will be Diegos toughest test espically in lightweight and dont get me wrong this will also be Bj s toughest test at lightweight in my opinion I just think bj is the more well rounded athlete Diego would mostly rely on his wrestling ability against great strikers but bj is a great striker and he has awesome takedown defence and he is crazy on the ground so tough fight to call but I think Bj is more experienced and the better fighter.

    I cant believe people dont think sanchez has a chance.... he is a cardio machine that has NEVER been knocked out and NEVER been finished, he lost two decision fights!!..one of which was a pretty close call

    Of course BJ is a more accomplished fighter.. and the best at LW... but man Diego is gonna give him a tough fight... BJ will not knock him out and sanchez' wrestling will not allow Bj to get in good position for a submission...

    Why dont people recognize that Penn has some of the best hands in mma? Better than kennys or diegos. The only thing sanchez can boast about is ferocity and conditioning. And maybe offensive wrestling. BJ's got him on the boxing, jiujitsu, defensive wrestling, experience, and the level of competition he's faced. matt hughes, gomi, gsp, renzo gracie, he took lyoto machida to decision for christs sake.     Diego Sanchez is going to lose. BJ will submit him. Diego was scheduled to fight Thiago Alves but he was "Injured" during training after that he announced that he would move down in weight.... He was too scared to fight Alves or GSP he knew he would never be Champ in that Division. Not only is he lacking ground game against BJ but will he be able to handle the pressure of a title fight.... I think he will crack under the pressure and BJ will retain his title.

    All of BJ's losses have been at 170lbs (except for the first fight with Jens Pulver). Diego is explosive, great take down defense and a HUGE 155lb fighter. He will where BJ down the same way GSP did and then pound him out. I don't believe BJ will be able to get his bearings straight if Diego attacks him like he did with Guida. Diego also has great ground and pound. I would bet the farm on Diego

    BJ spent his whole match with GSP on his back getting no where so its hard to say he's untouchable on the ground anymore. then again sanchez is no gsp (who has been putting on some very boring fights lately) but they keep it standing it should be a sick fight!

    Diego is a good figher, but he can't beat Penn. Hell, he just barely beat Guida. In fact, Guida probably should have won that fight 29-28, or it should have been a draw 28-28 seeing as the first round COULD have been considered a 10-8 for Sanchez. Anywho, Sanchez just isn't better than Penn anywhere except for maybe in the hands. I could see Diego being a little bit faster than Penn, but Penn can take a punch like a mother****; I don't see him getting knocked out.

    What I find most interesting about this match-up is the stamina comparison. Sanchez is well known for having phenomenal cardio whereas Penn has a tendency of tiring fairly quickly. Because of that I think Sanchez should go into full-attack-mode and not let up for an instant, same as he did in his last fight. Sure, doing that could put him at risk for an early submission but if he can avoid that Penn will have no chance of keeping up with his frantic pace for more than a couple of rounds.

    i think that bj penn all around is a much better fighter but the one thing that sanchez has on penn is cardio for days. somthing that penn has had a problem with in the past. If sanchez pushes the pace like he does in most of his fights penn is gonna gas hard and we might see a new light weight champ in die nightmare sanchez

    A title fight for Sanchez is long over due! Sanchez deserved a title fight when he was fighting at 170 pounds. Sanchez will beat Penn because he his naturally bigger, stronger, and has a "never say die" heart. Penn folds like a deck of cards when the fight does not go his way at any moment of time. Sanchez will keep the fight standing and use his wrestling skills to get the fight back to the feet. Sanchez wins by KO or TKO round #3.

    pumping yourself up mentally beforehand has been proven (through actual testing) to release chemicals such as adrenalin into the system(but w/out the drain/dump) it may look strange,it may make some a bit uncomfortale to watch,but is really just another weapon/edge to bring into the cage. pretty intelligent actually

    Sanchez has better cardio, greatly improved stand up with kicks, knees, and punches. Sanchez is the same in round one as round three so im sure if his first title shot goes to round five he will shock the mma world with his outstanding cardio.     I love how intense diego is, im laughing my ass off...;)
    But would like to see diego win. I still dont like bj. He was actually loosing the fight with kenny or it was a draw, round 5 would have been live or die. Kenny has no strenght, hes week.

    My Perdiction and it will happen this way; Diego will rush in get a couple but bj will hit him back hard and it will be back and forth but bj will TKO diego he wont be laying there KO'd he will be TKO.

    Does Anyone really think Sanchez has better standup than BJ? Look at St. pierre's face after their first fight. That was a prepared BJ that Georges faced. BJ hits like a ton of bricks, again, when he is prepared. The problem with BJ and why he is not as dominant as Anderson Silva, is that BJ does not like to prepare. There is no one in MMA as good as BJ on the ground. There is no one in light weight that can match his standup. BJ's only achilles heel is that he is lazy. The scary part is that I don't think that we have seen even close to what he can do. He has had a lame excuse for every one of his losses. The fact is he took the fight lightly.
    Can a well prepared BJ take Georges St.Pierre? I don't count him out. If BJ comes to fight with Diego he will walk right through Sanchez with ease. Mark my words.
    I just hope BJ doesn't make me eat my words by deciding to take a month off to go hang on the beach, because I can guarantee Diego won't.

    to much money to be made before that happens.
    every time a unbeated fighter gets beat its always easier to beat him unless your st pierre, there always less doubt in the next challenger.or theres more money in the "new Champ" Ive watched the UFC line em up and let there stars knock em down. US champs have an easier list then say a Canadian or a Brizilian champ. Outside the us "were putting him up against the best, the No.1 contender" inside the US hay I wanna avenge a old loss to an unranked fighter is that ok dana?     Sanchez looks like a very big fighter at 155lbs. The way he destroyed the caveman makes me think that he's coming back hungrier then ever and looking to prove he is a force in that weight class.
    My vote is on BJ, but if anyone can beat him right now, it would be Nightmare.

    If Diego wins, it won't be because of his strength or conditioning. Shawn Sherk was just as strong and had just as good conditioning as Diego and he still got his ass tore up by BJ. If Diego makes even one mistake he'll lose, and I don't see BJ losing any time soon, he is just a better fighter and too well rounded to get overtaken by Diego Sanchez.

    I would prefer BJ but Sanchez is a beast. Hes got good standup but i do think BJ has him in standup other then him getin tired. BJ might beable to beat him on the ground just because of his strength. But Kennflo was suppose to put up a great fight and "finish the fight" and he didnt he got beat every round by the way i looked at it. So Sanchez dont say ne thing like Kennflo did to get BJ pumped.

    Bj did come out strong against Florian compared to what he looked like during the GSP match. However, we have to remember that Diego is going to train harder than ever because he saw the new and improved BJ. Diego has a strong chin just like BJ, but Diego likes to smuther with dirty boxing and likes to ground and pound by using his power. I'll give it to Diego, his mental preparation is focused and hungry for the title. Diego's strength is his ability to mow the lawn with his opponents.

    Great match for sure, but Diego better learn how to finish a fight. BJ in top shape is a huge threat, if he can weather the early storm he can surely finish Diego. The Nightmare has shown a lot of aggression but BJ is deadly accurate with strikes, making his aggression much more lethal, and on the ground its BJ all day. Sick fight, can't wait to see what happens. Anyone know when the event is?

    This is a dream fight for me. I love both Penn and Sanchez. However, Penn has an iron chin and if he could last 4 rounds with GSP, I am not worried about him being KOed by Sanchez. Penn HAS TO come in shape, and if he does, he will deflect Sanchez early storm and submit him.

    Diego hits harder and maybe better stamina, but i think it is Penn who has the better boxing skills and is better on the ground.

    sanchez should fight franky edgar to determine who fights penn they both dominated their last fights although in my opinion sean sherk is a tougher opponent than clay guida . but these two are definately the top contenders at 155

    i think bj will win hes got good wrestling defense and better hands and can take a beating i dont think diego can knock him out and on the ground bj wins so best chance diego has stand up and i still think bj has him in the boxing department plus his cardio does look better and think in the next fight hes going to have even beter cardio

    i think it would be about evven standing up maybe a little edgs to diego for his size and reach even though diego is great on the ground no body is better then bj so i say bj but this is going to be much more difficult then kenny florian
