Carwin vs Velasquez Destined to Fight in UFC 104

For months now, it seemed as if the careers of Shane Carwin and Cain Velazquez were destined to be intertwined, and that they would meet for a colossal showdown at some point in the UFC’s heavyweight division.



Now, according Carwin’s Twitter page, an October 24 bout in Los Angeles against Velazquez looks like a strong possibility at UFC 104. The mouths of UFC betting fans are watering with anticipation.



With both Carwin and Velazquez crushing fellow heavyweights before the end of the first round in many of their first fights in the UFC, a heavyweight title shot always seemed more like a matter of when and not if for both of them. The winner of this fight could find themselves getting a crack at the belt sooner than many expected if all goes according to plan.

    this is an interesting match up. i think on paper carwin has the advantage and will probably be the favorite but i think velasquez will win for three reasons: A- he was dissapointed by his last performance and will work his ass off to reach the next level. he out works carwin. B- he has a better camp and i think aka will come up with a good gameplan for him. and C- carwins cardio has never been tested. the longer this fight goes the better for cain

    dont even compare either of them with brock lesnar. These two guys r real deal mma fighters, lesnar is a chump....he would get two pieced by either one of them....carwin wins though way more fights under his belt

    Can Carwin wrestle? He wont be throwing much bombs if hes on the bottom the whole time. If Carwin can wrestle good, or has awsome take down defence.. WOW this fight will be GREAT

    "cain dosent seem to have a very good chin" what? you do realize he took one from Kongo straight down the pipe. - This is an interesting fight and I agree with everyone that it is tough to call. I have not seen enough of these fighters to really know who would win, but Shane has some next level power that;s for sure.

    cain dosent seem to have a very good chin....after the kongo fight... cain is going to shoot a takedown right away and carwin will know what to look for...if carwin stuffs cains takedwns he will ko cain..
