Dana White, Hackleman in a War Over Liddell’s Future

Chuck Liddell’s recently updated Wikipedia biography refers to him as a “former” mixed martial artist.

Not so fast Wiki.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of Liddell’s retirement following his first-round technical knockout loss against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 97 last month have been greatly exaggerated. That’s according to the man who arguably knows “The Iceman” better than anyone, his longtime trainer John Hackleman.

“Obviously, John Hackleman didn’t pay his house off yet. John Hackleman needs some money, because anybody who claims they care about Chuck Liddell even a little bit would not be making these f--king statements,” White told Sherdog.com Thursday.

However, Hackleman said he and Liddell are in no hurry to discuss the pivotal decision just yet.

    lidellwill b back bitches deal with it! with some adjustments to his camp and some fine tuneing to his stand up and bit more work with top boxing coach, to add to his standup hes still amazeing to watch and a big ticket draw, not main event but a def 2nd show headliner he still can draw the crownd and put on a show, if its a/ of age just look at coleman and courture, who he fuct up. hope to see him fight again or atleast if he wants too. its up to him and hackelman, not dana! PERIOD

    Dana White is a loser, unfortunately.
    I can't stand Dana White. I wish he'd get fired. He has no respect for the sport, the fans, or the fighters. I don't want to see the fighters unionize like someone alluded to above, because unions are garbage. I just wish the owners of UFC would step in, replace Dana White, and demand that the new president make the changes that the fans & fighters want to see. The fighters should be paid more, and fighters like Fedor need to be allowed to fight UFC fighters. Anything less is just power-mongering and money grubbing. That's Dana White in a nutshell.

    Coming from a former fighter, Chuck only needs to fight again if its a very big payday. This is a very brutal sport to be getting paid peanuts. Im sure that Dana wont pay him the way he needs to pay all of his fighters. The ufc makes treeloads of money but only pays the fighters twiggs.

    if dana was the problematic issue here, why is it we continue to dispute on otherse recognition?posting disputable comments on a Chuck L, over the internet is demeaning...a youtube response isnt going to extract enough legit opinions. or enough to ensure those opininos are legit.. You cant tellme basign a revieced salary on anyone is going to make them fight harder, if anything is diminsihes their potential.. Our UFC managment might not be up to date, or respectufl but.... Understand others are here to listen, not to take in whats been said, sure opinions help base thoughts, but also corrupt reputations and so-called Based recievables, fans, recognition, and dignity.. These all in itself have the power to turn somebody sweet, into the sourest taste, therefore understanding faults will not only refrain criticism to the unknown, but as well develop indiividual skills needed to efficiently achieve a task..

    I think Dana needs to do a better job of clarifying when he is speaking as UFC president and when he is speaking as Chuck Liddell's best friend. If my best friend were on the downslope of his career and I was seriously concerned about his safety, I could see myself making a comment like, "You will never fight again", even if it wasn't in my power to make that happen. But when you make the same comment as UFC president, you come off sounding like a power hungry d***. Something to think about.

    to that douchebag who put a comment about the legend randy coture u try fighting a guy 3 times heavier than u and surviving even 10 seconds randy got caught by a lucky punch and dana white has had it in for coture since he began fighting thats why he lost because he was unfairly matched to a guy who should be holding up buildings u f*cking douchebag

    not to compare chuck to the late an great man that was even tanner, but its like this some times ur right in the middle of the road where the new up an coming fighters have all ur own skills an sometimes a lil more an nobody wants to c chuck get beat in lil three round bouts an look like evan did against kendal grove! dont get me wrong chuck would still knock alotta guys out that he would stand on the other side of the ring against but, i would like him retire an pull his game up as tight as he can get it an come back like randy couture did an recapture what he has in his heart, the championship!!!!!!

    I agree with the some of the comments about Dana. For example, him bitching about the Silva v Leites fight. It is not Silva's job to be exciting. His job is to defend the belt. It is up to Dana and the match-makers to put together an exciting fight. So Dana, quit blaming Anderson when you need to blame yourself.

    It's beyond time for White to be knocked off his pedestal! He is a self absorbed, micro-managing fukhead!

    Most "average" fighters don't make sh*t compared to what the UFC brings in. In almost every other major sport ( combat or not), there is very good base pay received. Average fighters are lucky to make $7,000 (before expenses). Compared to the money the UFC takes in this is pure exploitation!

    I have said for awhile that the UFC fighters need to organize. The model to follow is out there in every successful sport available. This bullsh*t of White handing out cash after a fight is degrading insult.

    Have collective, organized minimum base pay requirements for ALL fighters.

    Also, ever notice whenever thing reach this level with White, he always mentions that there will be "WAR" if things don't go as he wants them. He used the same line when Randy spoke out against him. Once again, nothing new. More threats to help keep the lil guys under his thumb.

    UFC fighters organize!!!! You will see how fast mister tough guy wanta-be shut his pompous mouth!


    ....and Chuck do what the fuk you want. If you choose to split from this cokhead organization, do us all a favor punch White in the face on national tv. It's the least the fukhead deserves.

    Once you have reached the peak of your sport but no longer can. Then why do it any longer? Chuck has nothing more to prove to the MMA world! Dayna is right, he wants what is good for Chuck and the sport of MMA on this one. ~S
