Dana White talks about Randy Couture's possible title shot

UFC President Dana White discussed the situation in the UFC Light Heavyweight division stating that there is some "unfinished business" that has to be done before the situation clears up. White confirmed that Randy Couture is in the mix for the shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight title, but may fight someone else before it happens.

    I rather see griffin vs rua 2 or griffin vs machida who knows griffin might pull the upset like he did against rua and rampage, either of those fights seem better than randy vs rua or randy vs machida

    I agree!!!
    Randy could beat Machida. I also agree that it would be harder for him to beat Rua due to the strenghth and the overall talent but it would be doable if he stuck to a game plan. Forrest would bring it just like he always does. Rampage would not know what to do with a man that is that old slamming him on his back or pushing him against the cage. Evans... way too much speed. I am a huge Couture fan but I think that knockout would make that one he has against Chuck look like a walk in the park.

    ,vera only hit him enough times to count on maybe both your hands,
    if you don't like randy's fighting style thats fine, and whats the point of bringing up his lose to lesnar and nog? lesnar lose to Mir and beat heath"washedup since 06"herring and got a title shot at randy....,
    records are unimportant in the UFC as long as you are liked and loved you will get fights. i wouldn't be surprised if they don't feed Chuck Liddel some chumps after the tito fight and throw him right in with the camp.

    Actually it DOES matter that he lost to Lesnar and Nog, because it just happened a few fights ago! He is 2-2 in his last two fights, with an edgy victory over Vera and a W over a geriatric Coleman. I can think of MANY more fighters that are more deserving of a title shot in the LHW division. He hasn't proven himself recently in the LHW division to warrant a title shot.

    pretty sure shogun has great jits and machida is also a black belt, evans all american wrestler and rampage has great wrestling also not just slams case in point his fight against hendo.

    Dana really needs to stop giving Couture pointless matches and start giving him fights that will test him. The Coleman fight should keep him out of the top 10 light heavy weights, due to the fact that Coleman is a nobody in that weight class. Feed him to Thiago Silva or Evans then we will see Couture has still got it.

    Randy should have one more fight before another title shot. Maybe he could go against the winner of the rampage/rashad fight since both of those guys don't deserve a title shot just yet either.

    I dont really remember machida ever fighting in a clinch? Might be his archilles heel. When he fought rashad, i dont think there was ever any wrestling involved. I guess you could say he fought Tito, but its a different sort of wrestling that couture brings to the table.

    I definitely dont think he should get a title shot though, but the UFC does this all the time. They want to have someone fight the champ, and have a long string of contenders waiting after him. They dont want there to be a "mini-tournament", and have no one left after one person triumphs. Remember after you lose, you gotta fight back with atleast a year of fights to get another title shot.

    1: Shogun was out almost 16 months when fighting Coleman, ring rust + Shogun beat Kevin Randleman in 1st Round, Couture Beat KR in 3rd Round = Shogun Better than Couture.

    2: Chuck Liddell beats Couture in 1st Round + Shogun Beats Liddell In 1st Round = Shogun Better than Lidell & Couture

    3: Shogun better than Lidell, Couture & Machida

    world class wrestlers are hard to deal with.shogun had trouble with coleman he might not have been in best shape but coleman wasn't either. coture did a good job wrestling against lesner.if u think randy doesn't stand a chance then you don't know much about mma.look at marquart vs sonnen, you don't see many strikers knocking guys out when they are lying on their backs
