    Matt serra won that fight, you don't have to be a fighter to see that but as for you faggets who think so, I am an Australian Pro CFC Fighter with an 8-0- record, hughes wanted nothing to do with the stand up and when it did get to the ground the only one that was close to finishing the fight was serra, hughes was doing nothing on the ground.
    Hughes raised serras hand cos serra won, the judges gave hughes the fight cos its quite possibly his last fight, aswell it should be.

    Oh and as for the headbutt, hughes did it to himself and it wasn't even hard his just got a soft chin.

    You can't win a fight by winning 3 out of 15 minutes with a lucky head-butt being the deciding factor. Serra could have won if he'd have been more offensive on the ground but he was all defense, good defense yes but not completely neutralizing. You don't have to like Hughes, he's hard to like. But a bitch? I'm pretty sure all you punks calling him a bitch would turn into one if you were face to face and challenged to fight him!! Idiots.

    Great fight. While I am a big Matt Hughes fan I watched this fight objectively and agree that he won. Sans the early headbutt I doubt it would have went the distance. No disrespect to Serra, he is one hell of a fighter.

    i would like to see a rematch also i say that was a draw. both hughes and serra showed excellent martial arts skills, and both had something on each other hughes ground game was better then serras. and serras stand-up game was way better then hughes but i understand why they pick hughes as the winner his take downs gived him the points. if the fight did not go to the judges either hughes was gonna get knocked out or serra would get submitted.

    Other than the headbutt and the takedown at the end of the 3rd round by Serra, Hughes totally controlled the entire fight........ Serra was dominated by Hughes the entire fight!!!!

    Wlovever Serra lovers. The only thing Serra did was get an accidental headbutt that dazed Hughes for a few seconds and a takedown with no control and no damage. He was the one stalling on bottom by holding and praying for standup...of which he ate just as many shots as Hughes. Not an action packed fight, but Hughes did all the agression and Serra stalled the entire time by holding and not going for submissions cause he knew hed get choked out.

    Serra didn't don ANYTHING! After the first 10 seconds, he just got taken down and tried to hold off MH. He was clearly the winner. Not even close.

    wow what a fight. i was on edge threw all three rounds. i give the first round to serra and he could have easily won that fight if only he would have hit hughes with some more clean power punches after that bitch ass head-butt to the chin. hughes you deserved that win and i cried when the judges said your name. keep doin what you been doin. even though i was with your wife when she said she wanted to see blood. :)

    I'd have to give the fight to Hughes as well... In round one he did get knocked down and was hurt bad, but it was from a head to head contact. As far as points go you can't give anything significant to Serra on that. Serra did manage to land a few shots and show some aggression but Hughes recovered well and controlled the pace of the rest of the round using take downs. Serra didn't have enough clean shots to cancel out the take downs and octagon control by Hughes.

    Round 1 - Hughes

    In round 2 it was all Hughes with take downs and ground control. Enough said.

    Round 2 - Hughes

    In round 3 there was reasonable balance as far as points go. Both had take downs and decent control, but Serra finished strong. Sometimes leaving strong can get you the round. So I'll give that to Serra.

    Round 3 - Serra

    Fight = Hughes

    matt hughes got a lucky win. he took no risks and the only reason he won was because of the octagon control. he fought a pussies fight. the judges picked it that way because hes the "future hall of famer" and dumb ass ufc fans like to see him win. love ufc love the ufc armature fans

    Matt Serra won that fight easily. Round 1 for Serra, round 2 for Hughes, round 3 for Serra. Round 3 Hughes got first takedown and just laid on Serra doing no damage hence they were stood up and Serra was attempting submissions from his back. Then Serra got a takedown with a nice leg sweep and landed some good shots on top before the round ended. UFC needed to stop letting dudes just lay on top and hold guys it is boring.

    Serra got robbed.. 3rd round was 1 takedown each and serra did more damage on top and had omoplata attempts and a triangle attempt from the back... Hughes laying and praying against someone will more skills..

    It is quite funny to hear all the comments, most always uneducated, immature and showing how little people really know about MMA. I am also sure that everyone watching this believes they could kick the crap out of either of them, right?
    99% of you guys have no clue whatsoever about what it takes to be in any serious MMA fighter's position in life. The other 1% actually know what they are talking about and/or have the experience along with the maturity to have an actual conversation about this "sport", when it is actually an art form that goes far beyond punching, kicking, wrestling, energy drinks, and Tap-Out.
    Playing UFC: Undisputed does not make you and expert on MMA by any stretch of the imagination by the way, but you could read Frank Shamrock's "MMA for dummies" book that just came out.

    Lotta guys on here crying that Serra won... Pretty sure he didn't. You may not like that Hughes is a wrestler but wrestling is a pretty big component to the UFC. Some guys just wanna see every fighter stand up and blast each other in the face back and forth all night, and I won't lie.. those are great fights. But Understand that the most technical side of the Sport lies in the wrestling, positioning and setting up of maneuvers, transitions & submissions. The call was fair and while not the most exciting fight.. doesn't look like anyone here wasted their money on the PPV if we are all watching it free online. Lets let the judges be the judges and accept that your "favorite" got out fought.
    Bad talking GSP shows your ignorance and lack of appreciation for the true sport. remember its not Ultimate Punching Championship...its Ultimate FIGHTING Championship. A win is a win is a win. You wanna watch a street fight go YouTube Kimbo Slice...if you can find him.

    Round 1 = Hughes/Serra (Draw)
    Serra rocked him, but it was by an illegal headbutt and a punch to the back of the head that started it, so that shouldn't have counted. Matt got the big take-down and back control. If you counted the illegal headbutt as points for Serra, then it would be Serra's round.

    Round 2 = Hughes
    Hughes lay on top the whole round. Top = Control of Fight = Points. If you think otherwise, give yourself a good reason to. I liked Pride more for this because if you're on top and not doing anything, you get stood up quickly and you also lose part of your paycheck if you don't do anything. But UFC doesn't do that, so it's points for Hughes.

    Round 3 = Serra
    Hughes on top for the most part, doing nothing. Serra tried to finish underneath, but the real points were the end with the take-down and landing some nice punches.

    I believe Hughes should have taken the win because of that illegal headbutt, but if it wasn't counted this fight should've been a draw.

    Not Very Exciting Bout
    I was hoping for a better fight.
    This would have been more entertaining if it could have gone 5 rounds, but hey ! lol
    Serra was in good condition - you have to give him that.
    Hughes seemed really rocked by the accidental head-butt.
    I guess the feud between them is now over.
    My hat is off to BOTH fighters ...and CONGRATS to Matt Hughes !

    first of all i don't like either one, just to make that known. now i don't see how matt serra clearly won that 1st round. yes he dropped hughes twice in the first minute and a half. but it was clear that he did get hit with a headbutt and you can't say otherwise. but after he was rocked he came back and over powered serra and even had a big takedown and a rear naked choke attempt. serra probably did win the 1st, but i can say that nobody was robbed in this fight. he people are just mad because it wasn't that great of a fight.

    Two fighters using older disciplines. Some striking ability and power to each of them, but it seemed to cancel out. Add that to a nearly stalemated ground game and we have umm.... Oh yeah, two fighters whose day has come and gone. Bye bye Matts, its been fun, but it sure didn't end that way.

    1st round had to be judged as a 10-8 round for Serra, it was soooo lopsided and it wasn't the headbutt that
    hurt hughes, you can see his knees buckle when Serra's forearm hits the side of his head. From there on it was a draw, but even still a bit of a boring fight.

    I think both guys are jerks in their own respects, so I could care less about either. with that said, Hughes won. Unanimous in my opinion. A few big haymakers may knock someone out, but it will never outscore someone who controls the majority of the fight on the ground. If big punches are your thing, you watching the wrong ring. Congrats LM, knew Sugar was paper champ.

    i had a feeling matt hughes won. he nailed the take-downs and recovered from that brutal headbutt. serra didnt really do any severe punches which is why he didnt win. hughes won cuhz of the way he worked on the ground. even though he never ground and pound, he still was able to get some punches in which gave him points, serra just laid there like a dumbass...

    serra so clearly won that fight, he was more dangerous throughout the whole fight, several submission attempts, he didnt get hurt by hughes at any point, he got so robbed its unbelievelable

    i felt that serra was the victor. I think hughes got the win because of his takedowns and his wrestling, really. Hughes was constantly in danger, and rocked for plenty of the fight. Serra didn't look like he took too much punishment. Hughes wasn't really threatening him as much as pacifying him. Just my take. either way i don't take anything away from hughes performance, it was excellent.
