Iceman Not Done After All ?

Could it be we haven't seen Chuck (The Iceman) Liddell in the Octagon for the last time, after all? According to his trainer John Hackleman, that's up to the veteran fighter, not UFC president Dana White.

"Chuck is still under contract and they have to give him a fight or let him go."

After Liddell's TKO loss to Mauricio (Shogun) Rua on April 18 in Montreal -- which was his fourth defeat and third knockout in his past five fights -- the 40-year-old said he would take a couple of days to think about his future. But after he left the UFC 97 post-event press conference room, White emphatically stated Liddell will "never" fight again.

doesnt matter what dana wants dude, Liddell still has one fight left in his contract they have no choice but to give it to them. They love if a fighter breaks a contract they definately arnt gonna do it.

Chuck has helped promote MMA and that’s what he should continue to do. But the dude is too slow compared most fighters out there.
He was exciting to watch, but his best before date has long expired, he is not feared anymore. He has tones of money go spend it or you can give it to me.

    I don't trust his trainers
I Don't trust Chucks Trainers they don't seem To be looking out at his Career ! After you get ko you are never the same, Chuck needs to take some time off, to train and get healthy again.
Let these other guys get beat up some then return in health . Chuck has had not a rest for a while since being champion and has been a champ before these other people and a long wait for that , and no easy fights, when you get ko its eaiser to get ko again so the only real reason why hes having losses is because hes not resting.... Theres nothing that says you can't not be tactical in fighting.. But being a fighter like chuck he keeps on wanting to fight

Danas not being a control freak, hes doing the right thing. Ive been a liddell fan since the start, but think it is maybe time to call it quits. People say his losses have come from top level fighters and so they have but these are fighters who liddell could have beaten a couple of years ago. Fair enough he could still beat lesser opposition but if he was to go now everyone would still remember him as a legend of the sport. If he gets knocked out a couple of times its just going to get worse and akward to watch.

If we are not careful and left unchecked, Dana White is going to do to MMA, what Don King has done to boxing, get greedy, play control freak and screw everything up leaving the fighters with no incentive and money and all because of greed and power play, oh wait you mean what corporate America does to everyone of you everyday.

Dana Whites decision to not allow chuck to fight because he cares about him isnt "rubbish" if anyone has read chuck liddells book "my fighting life" you find that Dana and himself do share a friendship not to mention the ufc like any other sports franchise is a business and those who call Dana an "idiot" probably dont understand business at all.. I myself am a big fan of chuck and really want to see him fight but the reality is even great fighters slow down. unfortunately the ice man has reached this point and cannot compete at the high level he once did.

    Dana is correct
Dana is spot on Chuck is finished i am a massive Liddell fan but his time has gone,he was so sluggish in the Shogun fight it was embarrasing,he was floored by a average punch,I want to remember Liddell for knocking guys out not being knocked out.

    Meh
On one hand, Dana does seem like he wants to control everything the guys do(Anderson silva) to the point where it's like he has no idea what he's talking about anymore. On the other hand, what's the point in chuck fighting if his last few fights look this bad? I have no idea how he's training now, but who can we really see him beating that's a top contender? Rashad? Rampage? Machida? Forrest? Meh. He's at 75% win percentage now, he Jardine sure as hell isn't the better fighter, but the last thing we want is another ken shamrock in the making, going years and years without winning and just becoming a joke

Dana White is a complete control freak and has no right to retire fighters. Ok, Chuck might have lost his last four, but even in losing he's looked better than most of the guys out there. MMA is not like boxing, where by age 40 you have taken thousands of head shots. I've no doubt that Liddel could still be competing with the best in 2 years time. White saying he's concerned about Chuck's welfare is rubbish, he just doesn't want him signing with another organisation. That's why Fedor will never sign for the UFC - you sign that contract and White thinks he owns you for life.
