IBA World Heavyweight Champion James "Lights Out" Toney declared that he is coming to Mixed Martial Arts because no one wants to fight him in Boxing. Toney said that Boxing is not exciting as it used to be, praising Dana White and the UFC for putting entertaining fights. Toney also advised Randy Couture to bring pillow to their UFC 118 co-main event fight on August 28th.

agreed, there's no way he could stop a shot from lesnar which would give him about 3s to knock him out. Couture on the other hand Toney might actually have a chance to stuff a take down or maybe two, I know I'm in the minority here but I really think Toney has a pretty good chance in this fight.

More than a PUNCHER'S chance IMO
I a lot of guys here are underestimating Toney's ability as a boxer. He's a serious threat standing. I actually am giving him an edge over Randy and will not be surprised if he knocks him out (although I would love to see Randy win) and then let the sound bites begin (hopefully with subtitles).

There is no way in hell he can stuff one of Randy's take downs. He could potentially catch him with a punch on the way in but there is no way he has developed the take down defence to stuff Randy.

It's more than just having a good sprawl to stopping the take down, If Couture gets in on his legs, yes he LIKELY (I still dont think that's gonna be a sure thing though) will take him down but Toney will have much better footwork than couture and that's the real key to keeping it on the feet. Look at how Anderson SIlva fights, when he wants to no one ever comes close to taking him down and when it does go to the ground it's almost just as much b/c silva is just as confident with the opponent on the ground as on the feet. That coupled with the fact that Couture isnt too quick with his shot (see Brandon Vera fight) is gonna make this a much closer fight than most people are thinking it is.

no that guys right. Anderson's takedown defense is mostly his speed and footwork. When someone gets a hold of him he looks like he's falling down like a tree. Pretty funny. He's just great at not letting you get a hold of him.

the last time I was excited about a boxing match? Hell, I'm excited for every fight in the Super Six tournament. Also, for the floyd/shane fight. Lots of good boxing matches out there. It's a shame none of the Klitchkos wanted to come of some cash to fight Toney (instead of ducking/lowballing him). People would have been excited for that.

Why speculate on how Toney is going to do? Let's just see, than talk, will have more point to the statement. One thing I can definitely say about James Toney is that you got to love the way he hypes the fight up! More I listen to his interviews, more I like him.
