Jon Jones says James Toney "is ignorant" for thinking he can stop Randy Couture

"Do you really think you're going to uppercut a collegiate wrestler when he's coming full force into a double leg dive? I think he [James Toney] is just really naive to think that with hand combinations alone he's going to be able to defend takedowns from the clinch and double leg dives. So I think he's just ignorant in a way and I don't really have a hard time calling him ignorant because of some of the statements he's made about our sport."

UFC Light Heavyweight prospect and the Versus 2 fight card main eventer, Jon "Bones" Jones, shared his thoughts about James Toney vs Randy Couture match-up. Jones declared that Toney must be "ignorant" for thinking that he can defeat Randy Couture, without having even a basic Wrestling background. Jones will look to get one step closer for earning a shot at the UFC Light Heavyweight title, with a victory over Vladimir Matyushenko this weekend.

    Let's break this down logically...Jon Jones is actually the ignorant one here:

    1) Toney has clearly stated that he is a fight fan and a warrior and he respects the sport. He also said that the training is tougher than that of boxing. FACT.

    2) John should know that Toney is an entertainer and he just talks crazy sheezy to hype fights and get paid...some of it is surely his real persona too.

    I find Jones' remarks somewhat contradictory...

    8 out of 10 times Randy would win but Toney has heavy heavy hands
    and is a world class boxer so has a better than average punchers

    B.S Remember Randy is 47 years old! He is going to get KO`d. Then they are going to give Toney a couple of more washed up fighters, so that UFC can make the most money with Toney. Here is my prediction.
    Toney fights Couture.Toney fights liddell. only in his last fight on his contract will he fight a monster.

    Relax guys, Toney is just spouting shite to ensure he gets a big pay-check and alot of exposure during this fight. He thinks if he can draw a big enough of crowd, then he will be offered the big fights in boxing. He's probably right as well - he will start to look real good to any boxing promoter if he has a following of mma fans/haters.

    i think he is saying that because he doesnt know how to defend the double leg thats why he is ignorant. also Toney has said that boxing is superior to MMA and he is calling him ignorant for that as well because boxing is not better than MMA

    Toney is a blubbering fool and his own worst enemy. His rants are worse than those on WWE, because at least those lines are scripted. Toney is doing this on his own, which makes him even more disrespected in the MMA world.

    I think you've been taken uppercuts from Toney's jock area... no1 said if Randy stands with him he's ignorant to think he'd knock him out. he's made statements that an uppercut will be his takedown defense... people who have been training to stuff takedowns there WHOLE LIFE have trouble defending a shot. you think some1 who's never even seen a takedown can time it with an uppercut?     Exactly. Unless there is some kind of miracle, Toney has about 30 seconds or so to get in his best shots before he's flat on the mat or up against the cage, and unless there's a break, it's game over for Mr. Toney.

    Yup, he has a puncher's chance for the first 30 seconds of round one, and first 30 seconds of round two, if he makes it that far! We really can only speculate but it appears that Mr. Toney has a lot of words to back up. We can only guess how much he's learned in the short time he's been training MMA, but it's about a 95% chance give or take that he'll be eating his words instead. Just think how foolish we'll all look if he actually wins the fight.

    I don't know Cage. In a lot of the previous threads, Toney actually has some support. I don't know how biased they were though. Some people want to see Toney win so Dana will look dumb. I'm in the group that thinks Randy will win. I think its going to be one of those deals where Randy gets caught while coming in but drags him down with his instincts. Then he will gather himself and pound Toney out. That's my prediction.

    So many rude about Randy. I remember seeing him fight in the early UFC's and he would win being the underdog way back then and had good GnP. Took out Rizzo(Rizzo had back to back losses to Randy at UFC 31 and 34),Vitor Belfort , literally spanked Tito, beat Liddel the first time ect.. Controlled Brock until he got caught. I wish he had put Brock on his back and see if Randy could keep him down.

    A collegiate boxer?? lol....Those guys can't box worth a ****!! When I fought in nationals, we would laugh at those chumps. Those guys "might" be good enought to win a "novice" Golden Gloves competition. And I used to fight wrestles and kick boxers all the time! Every one of them pussies! So, should we all judge mma on that?? Do you guys see my point?? Probably not because most mma guys are even dumber than your basic punch drunk boxer. :p

    And Jon Jones is not qualified to talk about on what boxers can or can not do. Yeah, he might know how to wrestle and he might know the mma "game" but he is well below his knees when he talks about boxing and boxers. He should really keep his mouth shut about James Toney. Cause, he looks like a complete idiot when he talks about something that he has very little knowledge about. And if Jon tries something on Toney because of Toney's response....Toney will really hurt him. He don't think?? I ****in' dare him to try something on Toney!

    And are you guys really surprised on how James is disrespecting mma?? LOL We all (boxers) disrespect mma. :p Get used to it.. Besides, if you're gonna dispect sweet science, you better now we're going to disrespect "martial art's" version of boxing';s very own Tough man competition. :p And there really ain't a damn thing you guys can do about it...

    so funny to me that u guys really think that randy is that good..i seen randy get KO'd at a pillow fight so that says alot about his chin..all randy has is take down just like all toney has is hands..we know toney will not get KO'd by anyone in the ufc..so u better look for the tap..jones cant beat shogun by the way
