    it's funny how people think because mir got a few hits in that he was doing ok. Oh yea, mir could have had him there. give me a break. all it proves is that lesnar does have a bit of a chin. Same with randy. At least he did a little better but I would hardly say that he won the first round. It is funny, through all the insults people through at him, inadvertently they are giving him the ultimate complement. they are putting him on larger than life status. somehow if you get a hit on him it is almost winning because he is so unbeatable.

    Honestly, I like to call it how I see it. I mean, I give Mir so much respect. It's not about getting into the ring with Brock. It's about being that much smaller and underpowered and having a chance to win. If you watch Mir, you see he is doing really good, even when getting beat on.

    I would think the entire fight would consist of what the last 20 seconds was if Mir was that much worst than Brock. Mir, IMO is a much better fighter.

    I can't stand how people are saying that there was no technique there. Only someone who knows nothing about wrestling would say that. Lesner was able to pound Mir's face because he had in a classic 'reverse half-nelson' when he cradled Mir's head, put his hand in the armpit and posted back the elbow. It's one of the first pinning positions you learn and it made Mir completely unable to defend himself. What some see as being stuck in a half-guard most wrestlers consider having a 'Turk'; very hard for your opponent to move. Randy Couture used to talk about how he loved being in the half-guard for this very reason. Lesner staying perfectly chest-to-chest which is also fundemental wrestling technique. You may think it's boring but what he does is very solid.

    I think Lesner is going to have a hard time if he ever comes up against someone as big as him who can also wrestle. Lesner's stand up does not look impressive. He doesn't look like he has a big gas tank either. I'm sure he trains hard as hell but that much muscle mass takes a lot of oxygen. I think that guy that beat Gonzaga would be a pretty tough match for Lesner.

    Lesnar sells tickets for WWE. Lesnar will sell ticket for UFC. First time, Brock Lesnar burst into the scene in the WWE, deep down inside you just know he will be something big.

    As I see it, will be a great addition to UFC. Lesnar to UFC, same as Tyson to Boxing, Jordan to Basketball, Farve to Packers, Brady to Patriots, Woods to golf, Gretzke to Hockey.

    Brock was a WWE wrestler but now is the real deal. He beat not only UFC but MMA legend Frank Mir who has beaten the whos who of MMA in their prime. Also undefeated Ken Shamrock and number 12 p4p couldn't fight Brock. Which means Fedor who is top 15 HW at most and top 45 p4p - ask Dana - would have absolutely no chance against this long reigning world (not just UFC) HW champ Brock

    As far as the other WWE stars go, I have no opinion on them, because Dana has not said anything about them yet.

    Infinite reasons why Brock is better: see above. Besides Fedor won against a sick and injured inexperienced Nogueira twice only by luck becuase the judeges loved him. Frank won against a young in his prime Nogueira without staph infection easily!!! And Frank lost against Brock twice, except the first time Brock gave that kneebar to Mir!

    I love Brock the UFC and Dana. And Mir if he stays with the UFC. If he signs with anybody else, he will instantly lose his skills and will be out of his prime with that signature.

    11. Brock has an iron jaw: Not even Randy and Mir could knock out Brock, and they are knockout machines!
    12. Fedor only got lucky in his fights
    13. Fedor never fought good standup fighters, except for K1 3time champ Semmy Schilt, and K1 champ Mark Hunt, but he got lucky both times
    14. Fedor never fought grappling wizards, except for ADCC absolute chamption Ricardo Arona, but he couldn't finish Arona and survived then got lucky with the judges
    15. Fedor never fought good wrestlers, except for Coleman, Randleman, Lindland, but they were too old, too young, or distracted when he fought them

    Congrats,to Brock! I'm glad he finally beat the hell outta Mir.I never saw anything special about him as heavyweight champion in fact Mir's run pretty much killed the division yeah,if I'm Dana White that's exactly who I want to be the face of my promotion.Lesnar is the face of MMA now and all you bitter Mir fans need to accept that White and the Ferritta's knew who they were getting with Brock from the beginning don't be fooled by Dana's comments in the post fight interviews.

    For all the people who think this just isn't a good match up because of Lesnar's size, you have to remember that is what UFC was built on... Oversized opponents vs brazilian ju jitsu experts like the Gracies... I mean the idea behind BJJ is that a much smaller opponent can defend themselves against a much larger opponent through proper leverage and submissions. So in essence this was the perfect match for UFC's 100th event, they just need another Gracie to show Mir how it's done... unfortunately the next great Gracie is fighting on strikeforce.

    .... wrestling is considered a martial art.. the mix is having a striking game... ground and pound baby... and I don't believe there is anything in the rules against it because people use their forearms like that all the time to slow their opponents breathing. Also he could put pressure on the bloodflow instead of the juggular and it would do the same thing as any other submission choke.

    Shane Carwin is the only fighter with bigger hands then Lesnar. If he can keep Brock off him and out of the guard he has a chance. i think he is the one guy who could KO Lesnar.     Brock is legit
    Maybe if you paid attention to his career, you'd have known he is a legitimate technical wrestler. You don't have to like the guy or respect him for his actions, but you have to respect his abilities as a wrestler. 106 and 5 says alot... No steroids ever, so you can take that trash talk and shove it. He's been tested over and over again and you still won't accept it just because he doesn't fit your profiling. All I can say is, Jealous much? You say oh go back to wwe that's where you belong... he's not a fake wrestler, never was, didn't like WWE because it made him out to be a joke and he was already that big before he got in with McMahon and his steroid goons. Not everyone in WWE is on roids either. His first stand up I don't believe was to play the stand up game it was to avoid walking into a set up because of Frank Mir's positioning. They both talked trash, the better fighter won.     This is what the UFC evolved into when they started using weight classes. Now you have guys that have only trained to fight people in their weight class.     Ive followed Brock since he started in the WWE. He was doing the same thing he does now at 295 lbs. Now he may have been juiced then, but he has slimmed down to 265 and hasnt lost any of his power( as he displayed during this fight). So lets just quit with the steriod stuff and how Brock is a f** or a bitch or wlovever. Right now he is the undisputed champ and thats it. If you say those other fighters will beat him, just wait and see. But just because he displayed some less than honorable antics after the fight, does not minimize what he did during the fight. Mir was well respected and accomplished fighter. He would have beat the hell out of any of us posting comments, but Lesnar dominated him. That says alot. Just line up the next fighter and see how it plays out. Congrats lesnar.

    I give Brock props but he needs to respect the fans and sport more if he wants respect. I also think the ref should have stood the fight up in the first round. Mir was shut down on the ground but landed some shots on the feet. Brock still needs to develope more before fighting someone like Fedor or even Josh Barnett.     they need to make a weight class for guys over 250. There are plenty of good fighters who are heavyweights at like 220ish. its ridiculous that they have to fight this freak show for a title. Hes just big, he wouldnt win if he was the same weight as couture. none of the other weight classes have to fight guys who weigh 40 pounds more than them.

    Lesnar literally pounded the crap out of Mir. That isn't fake.

    Some of you forget or never knew that Lesnar was a top wrestler throughout high school and college.

    If you watched the first Lesnar-Mir match, Mir beat Lesnar with technique over power. Mir got lucky, and Lesnar got schooled on MMA rules.

    Now in the second fight, Lesnar showed what he's learned. He isn't unstoppable, but any fighter would be crazy to get in the ring with Lesnar thinking it is going to be an easy fight.

    Personally, I think Mir needs more training in striking and focus a little less on locks and holds before he gets back in the ring with Brock. His ground game won't fly against a collegiate wrestler who hits like a Minnesota hockey player and learns from every fight.

    Of course, it's clear I'm shouting into a well here, but that's what I have to say :)

    Does anyone else remember that first fight with Lesnar and Mir? A dozen of so WWE f***wits were in the crowd giving support to one of their greats. Kissing cousins drooled in anticipation of the WWE plague spreading to a nation that "Just doesn't get it." Then Lesnar lost. I was so happy. I recognize his strength, I know that he is a phenom, truly amazing athletic ability. None of that has any appeal without a real fighter standing behind it.
    At a less than impressive 1-1 Lesnar took on and crushed (not pun intended) Herring, a very tough fighter in his own right. Then it got a little weird on us as the fans. Lesnar gets a title shot and starts unraveling the biggest string of bullshit I've ever seen, with no end in sight. The money hungry UFC proved that it will cater to hype over talent. A title shot given to an unworthy fighter who'd only one of his two fights in the octagon. Yeah I said it, and if you've been reading you'll notice a different flavor of love. I love Lesnar for dragging this sport back to the stone age. I love the UFC allowing him to do it with whole-hearted support. This man is a skilled fighter, but that will never overcome the fact that he is an ungrateful, disrespectful piece of shit.

    I was hoping the fight would be more, (exciting?) but I knew coming in with brute strength and weight advantage like that, against a guy like Mir was going to be one sided. Too bad it couldn't have been somebody like Arlovski or Emilianenko, who would've pushed the pace better.

    I think he's got much tougher tests ahead, much more imposing than the semi-retired champs of yesteryear, the Pride throwbacks and the washouts they've been having him fight so far. Weight advantage will stop mattering once he actually fights somebody who's top caliber.

    He does play an awesome back-woods, Coors drinking, douche bag villain though! I'll give him that, his fight was totally eclipsed by his acting skills at the end ha ha

    that should have been called " the battle of shitty haircuts". Pretty boring fight. I'm not surprised Lesnar won but getting in his face and flipping off the crowd is a pretty weak thing to do. Just be proud that you won this time and didn't lose again. Side note, anyone ever seen the movie "Little Giants"? Lesnar looks like a grown up version of that kid Tank from that movie.

    okay, So mir could have ko'd lesnar with that left hook, or flying knee, but the truth is is that lesnar got lucky enough to just miss being rocked. Mir looked much better on his feet than lesnar, and im truley suprised that lesnar was careful enough to not get caught in a submission. I guess that 290lb of pure wrestling skill was enough to control the fight on the ground but i still would say that mir is a much better, well rounded fighter and that if mir was closer to brocks weight he would definitly have won the match. I guess we gotta get the affliction guys in the octogon because i see barnett and fedor being lesnars biggest challenges, and if arlovski didnt have such a weak chin...

    I see many people talking about fedor vs lesnar, Fedor is a great fighter, but ther is one thing I dont like about he, he never fights with ufc rules, in a cage. For sure fedor is the best but i really want to see if he is so good fighting in different rules, many fighter accepted to challenge fedor and needed to enter in a differente style of mma, this gives advantage to fedor, as we can see people who was considered the bests in Pride had a lot of difficult enterning in the UFC, especially in first fights, we can say the same about UFC fighter who challenge FEdor and have only 1 fight to adapt themselves, I know Fedor dont need to prove anything for anyone but i really want to see him fighting im UFC rules, i dont think he will still winning so easy.

    Brock has clearly chosen to play villain. He obviously loves the rule. It's a conscience choice.

    He realized no matter what he accomplished in the octagon, that a good percentage of people would still consider him unworthy because of his "fake" WWE wresting background. So instead of trying to win those people over, he has opted to make make those people angry by playing the role "bad guy." I guarantee over time , once he starts getting the respect he deserves from the average fan for his fighting prowess, he will mellow out considerably and morph into the respectful, somewhat "nice" guy.

    Okay, it seems almost everyone is totally biased so I am going to lay down the truth as a completely unbiased person. First of all Mir is an intelligent and interesting guy with cool perspectives on MMA and Boxing. Plus he is someone you could interview without him going pyscho while Lesnar has few of these qualities. Now for those complaining about Lesnar and how he lost the first fight as you all knew he would - well that is absurd. The referee saved Mir in the first fight as he was about to be knocked out. Also, how can you complain about Lesnar's fighting style when Mir's has amounted to mostly roll on your back and try and grab a wrist, forearm or ankle to twist and make the guy quit. Lesnar, doesn't have any personality and admitted he isn't very smart but he is very strong and will probably beat anyone in MMA including the Russian with the same push down lay on top and hammer into submission style. That is perfectly legitimate in MMA. In summary, Mir is smarter and a cool guy and Lesnar is not but Lesnar beats Mir everytime. Now I suggest Y'all try and be objective and not just with your sports (heros) but with life in general.

    Brocks weight difference was the only real reason he won. If you payed attention, he had all of his weight on Frank's chest while trapping his foot. Add the giant clinched arm around his neck, and you have a pinned man. Simple fact is that it's hard to move a refrigerator off of you when it's pushing back. Easy enough for Brock to do this and tee off on pretty much anyone who weighs so much less. Go home and try it on ur little brother, u'll have the same results. Frank was facing an insane challenge trying to step up to Lesnar. For Frank's view, why don't you go and ask someone that much bigger than you to lie on top of your chest, trap ur leg and head, and see what you can do. Simple size difference, not so much strength.

    There is a whole lot of stupid being channeled on this board tonight. So I thought what is stupid without my 2 cents? (the answer is nothing!) First of all I read over and over here that Lesnar is bringing the UFC down..which is big time funny to me as the card he headlined was sold out so fast and just the fact the sport is growing by leaps even this year. Second of all.. Brock did amazing last night. I personally thought that he would keep the fight standing, but nope.. he put mir on his back and he showed that he wasnt going to make the same mistake twice.. He used his weight to hold mir down, and prevent him from doing anything from his back..and then dominated him. I dont think Ive ever seen someone get so beat up from arm punches from the ground like that. Okay third.. He didnt show much class after the fight, true.. but hes not the first fighter to flip off a crowd that boos you, after putting in the work and effort to beat a champion like mir. Brock is the real deal. He improves every time we see him in the octagon, which means he does respect mma. If he didnt respect the sport he wouldnt train the way he does. I dont think brock has the staying power to hold the belt like anderson silva or nothing.. and should be in no way considered for a pound for pound slot.. but Its gonna be intresting to see who will be able to come up with a game plan good enough to bring down "goliath"

    Mir is incredibly tough all the shots he took before it ended. Also, Lesnar was 1 shot away from knocking out Mir in the first fight before the referee stepped in and saved him. If you watch Mir got up wobbly while the referee gave Lesnar a long warning and reset the bout thus saving Mir. Objectively though, Mir is an interesting and intelligent guy to talk to and seemingly a nice guy while Lesnar is just a ill tempered big oaf! LOL

    There are lots of guys around the country as big and athletic as Lesnar. Some are in the NFL, some in the NBA, some are working on Farms and some are even in offices around this huge country. Also, there are plenty of guys in Gyms around this country who on a given day could bust up either one of these guys and KO them. Of course they arn't in Televised MMA and they are not celebrity which is what our country has come to idolize as the end all and be all!

    Some of you really need to get in touch with reality! I went to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in 1999 and in 2000, and watched Lesnar wrestle for the National Championship. He was absolutely a genetic misfit then, and he is that same genetic misfit NOW. The NCAA test for drugs, as well as the Vikings while he was in their camp, and most or you know the strict drug testing the UFC administers. The simple fact is that Lesnar is a freakishly large human being! In addition, he is an exceptional athlete. He has been more than impressive. His striking abilty is near non-defendable.     Pretty convincing win, but Brock at the end was a bit of a douche (understatement) ... however I actually would like to defend him a little. Now to give you my background I don't watch pro-wrestling, I didn't even know who Brock Lesnar was until he came to MMA. To my point however, his antics in this fight and in the Herring fight will not win him a lot of fans, but he seems like a no bull sh*t kind of guy. Both of those fighters gave him no respect and dogged him for not being a real fighter. When Brock gets in there with someone who actually respects him and then he acts like this then there will definitely be a problem, until then I hope he keeps proving them wrong.

    Personally, I like Machida. I knew he would be champion. I expected Evans to put up a bit better showing than he did. Machida absolutely demolished Evans. Evans did not know how to approach Machida. Machida had him off balance and missing alot.

    Hmm damn. I had a feeling it would go down pretty much like this. Raw power and strength with that wrestling background is just ugly when its on top of you.He completely shut down Mir's offense, good job.
