Nogueira "Training His **s Off" For Velasquez

With Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira's fight with top heavyweight Cain Valasquez less than two weeks away, his manager Ed Soares, had this to say about his clients training regime;

"Well, I know that Big Nog is training his ass off right now. As everyone saw, unfortunately when he lost to Frank Mir, and not taking anything away from Frank Mir, but Nogueira wasn’t the Nogueira that he normally is because of the staph infection and all of the injuries. But he came back and he fought Randy Couture and put on the fight that he put on and we’re just really excited that he’s training hard and he’s healthy. He’s training with a lot of wrestlers, boxers and Jiu Jitsu guys and Cain Velasquez is a serious competitor.

The guy is a beast and an animal. He’s very strong, quick, and relentless and he doesn’t stop. He’s got a lot of gas. I think it’s a great test. A lot of people have a lot of hype behind Cain Velasquez, but I believe in Nogueira and I believe in his boxing and Jiu-Jitsu and I believe Nogueira could have a good night. We’re hoping to beat Cain."

Minotauro Nogueira will face Cain Velasquez at the main event of UFC 110 in Australia on February 20th. The fight between the two is reserved as "Plan B" for the shot at Brock Lesnar's UFC Heavyweight title.

This is Nogs chance, a good win and he's right up there.
We need a respectful champ that loves MMA not for the money, but the art itself; who better than Big Nog

i dont like soarse. he reminds me of a villain from a james bond movie but he has a point chael sonnen used the good old lay and pray to beat nate. silva made nate curl up in a ball. TWO WAY DIFFERENT STRATEGIES!!!

I think Big nog will do well against Cain because Cain is a smaller HW. This means Nog's BJJ will be even more lethal.

Cain is a small hw, look at Lesnar, Carwin, Congo, Mir, Nogueira, Junior, Crocop, all bigger then him.

They're both 240lbs on the UFC website... I wouldn't say size has that much advantage for nogueira!.

    Cain's true test right here

If he can bet big nog (probably not likely) he is right in line for a title shot

    Nog Way!
Sorry guys... I love Nog but Velasquez is too young... to athletic... to deep for him... Nog is going to loose... unfortunately when Velasquez does win... he will probably end up facing Lesnar... and he just can't deal with that kind of wrestling and power... don't get me wrong... I can't stand Lesnar... he is steroid beef, but he is powerful... I am still hoping that we will see Fedor wreck Lesnar in the not too distant future.

So wat if hes athletic and young, i think cain is going to make a mistake on the ground and is gonna get tapped by nog because hes not as experienced and more likely to make a mistake and cain will learn from that mistake and come back stronger like gsp and penn

I always root for Nog and Wand so hopefully they win, however they're not the same guys from back then, the beatings have taken their tole. However Nog was such a good fighter than even on his worst state he's still top ten or top five for sure.

If Nog is on top of his game, he can't be knocked out, out cardio'd or tapped out...there's no way Cain is going to beat him. With that said, if he's not 100% then Cain definitely has a chance.

Cain Valasquez is about to get exposed for what he is...a decent, not great, Wrestler...with average at best striking. Nothing more, nothing less. Big Nog is going to walk all over this kid.

If he somehow beats Nog, he will have gained some respect from me....but so far the guy has fought no one and has been hyped to death...He beat Kongo you say? Okay.....big deal...who has he beat that's top 10? No one! Cause he's only had 7 fights! Yet they hype him like he's the next fuking Fedor.

I will go for Big Nog on this one, easily. But Soares needs to shut up with excuses, Mir beat Nog, if he was so sick and weak he shouldn't have taken the fight. Soares makes Nog look like a fool with all this Staph Infection crap, you would never hear anything if he had won that fight.

Cain is not much of a threat to Nog unless Nog is way past his best days, I would prefer to see Carwin against Lesnar and Mir against Nog or Cain, this Plan B sucks a bit. If Mir wins and goes up against Lesnar without understanding how to use all his new found weight, it is likely to end in the same way.
