That unorthadox style will not last forever, someone will eventually read him. The whole hands down cocky bullshit he does will cause him a broken jaw one day. Dont get me wrong I like anderson, but he isn't the same respectful guy he used to be. He's trying to call out frank mir? Back to my point, look at Chuck, his style was very dominant, until someone read him and countered his counter. Miguel Torres, a very unorthadox well rounded fighter, that style didn't last forever did it? Anderson is NOT invincible, they pick guys that are GOOD match up's for him, guys that make him look GOOD. I also think that Vitor has a great chance but is not ready for silva, but once again they have chosen another opponent to make the spider look even better. Some one always has your ticket and i pray that Vitor gives Silva his. Again dont get me wrong i like A. Silva, but he's lost all his repect, everything he used to stand for.

Dislocated Jaw Rumor
I thought that the dislocated jaw story was withdrawn by Yahoo Sports the next day. Does anyone have a confirmation of it being true or a new source? I'm desperate for answers. This fight looked so fake and that would explain a lot. I really love Silva's fighting style although I wish he wouldn't taunt Forrest so much to get him to make a move. I just want to know that this fight wasn't fake. I mean, when does the underdog throw a fight? It just looked so strange though.

Forrest didnt throw the fight. to all you asswipes that dont understand the mechanics of a straight lead he got knocked the **** out. when he ran away he went directly to the hospital because his face was broken literally. Silva is one of the most skilled and strategic fighters alive. I mean really, forrest was trying his best and Silve let his guard down just to mock him. Forrest couldnt land a hit and Silva continued to taunt him. Silva's punches are world class, he practically wrote the book on straight leads. And to all the boxing people that think he would lose to Roy Jones. if that matchup ever happened expect to see jones snoring in a pool of his own blood. Silva is just too skilled for anyone. The only person I can see posing a real threat to him is Cung Le, that would be a fight to see.

First off, people should really learn how to spell if they expect anyone to take their opinion seriously.
Now, I don't think Griffin threw the fight but it did look that way. I assume that he was hurt from the previous strikes, so one small jab was all it took.
Everyone ripping on Silva is a F***ing MORON. He in no way disrespected griffin. Silva is actually one the fighters who shows the most respect towards his opponents. He touches gloves before most rounds, after a good striking exchange in order to congratulate his opponent, and after he wins a fight he always shakes his opponents hand (when his opponent does not leave of course, lol). Silva has been doing the "bob and weave" since the beginning of his career. The reason being, because he can. Plain and simple. He is just that good.
So stop referencing Jones jr. (not to say that he was not a great boxer)
Griffin is a good fighter but he seemed weak and slow. It is almost as if he had the flu or something but they forced him to fight anyway. It was an embarrassing loss for him though.

Forrest had little hope. At the moment, I believe, Silva is the world's best pound for pound MMA fighter. I would like to see him against Machida for the 205 title. Machida's style is quite different than other fighters', and is difficult to deal with. Also Machida is heavy handed. This, with his size advantage, might make him the only real test left for "The Spider." Still, I think Silva takes it.
The only other fighters who "might" get him, and only through mere luck mind you, are Rampage or Evans, with a lucky power bomb. Yet we've never even seen Silva rocked by a punch, so...

I don't see how anyone can call that fight fixed. UFC stood to make no money from a fixed fight in Silva's favor. Forrest was the underdog, so any money that could have been made from betting or a re match would be dependent on Forrest winning, not Silva. Get a grip people. Silva knocked him down three times with the same punch, because Griffin kept using the same combinations over and over. Easy to get the timing down when you keep seeing the same ol thing being thrown at you.

Although most of my experience in striking came from the streets, I've been doing MMA training, and I've sparred with UFC strikers... if you're fighting someone very technical, unless you have amazing striking, you'll get the shit beaten out of you. The being said, that second time Griffin was rocked, it looked like he was already on his way out... the last punch wasn't the most powerful, but one small punch will often cause you to lose all focus and occasionally slip in and out of unconciousness (similar thing happened to me once... I taken about 15 head shots, and all of a sudden, a small jab to the chin knocked me out despite having taken far worse punches during the fight). Looked like Griffin put everything he had into that last bit as a last-ditch effort, and that punch pushed him over the edge. He didn't lose conciousness, but he was traveling one way, the punch threw his head the other way, messed up his ability to focus/balance... and when the world is spinning like that, you lose all orientation, and crumple... he threw his hands like "no more" as anderson started to come in.

1. what's the future for griffin after this humiliating loss?

Anyone who thinks Griffin took a dive is an idiot! Griffin was hurt from the first big punch and the body will only take so much before shutting down. Silva just makes everything look real easy and has many similar knockouts with blows that look likey didnt have much power in them, but you'd hit the floor too if you got hit by one!. Silva has unbelievable power from his speed, strength and technique. He's naturally over 210 pounds despite his somewhat thin physique. Forrest Griffin is not a power puncher, has a good but not great chin and can get knocked out like anybody else. I'm not a huge fan of his, but understand why his fans like him. . cause he won the TUF show with all heart, trains harder than everyone else and worked for the title. He doesnt have half the natural physical abilities of a Silva or GSP or BJ Penn but works his ass off. Griffin wouldn't lose a fixed fight cuz he's got too much heart, and knows one paycheque isnt worth the setbacks this will cause to his career (MMA fighters dont yet make the money boxers and other pro athletes make). Silva has natural abilities that cant be taught to ppl, he's a phenom! He's got the agility of 155'er and power of a heavyweight... BTW Anderson Silva can take a punch too! He'll knock out Henderson before Henderson can do enough damage to slow Silva down. Hope you white guys won't be too disappointed lol! GSP's my boy but would get his face smashed when trying to take Silva down, and would still have to give advantage to Silva over Machida for counter-punching, although Machida has slightly better defense. These too are unlikely to fight soon, so get used to Silva knocking guys out wth ease .

Get serious the fight wasn't fixed. MMA isn't fixed period. what would Silva have to gain by participating in a fixed fight? When it was against someone that he could beat. even if he lost it wouldn't have been as bad for him as being part of a fixed fight. what would Forrest have to gain by throwing the fight? nothing. most people probably expected him to lose even if they didn't want to admit it. he may have love very poor but he could have just had a bad camp. found it hard to cut weight and was very dehydrated thus the slowness. he did get rocked really badly twice before that. he was moving into the punch so his own momentum went against him. what would the UFC have to gain by having a fixed fight? they would loose millions of dollars which would be much worse than Silva loosing a fight. i was actually at UFC 101 and although it was a humiliating loss for Forrest i did not think that the fight was fixed. i really wanted Forrest to win but realistically new that it wasn't gonna happen. on a side note and before i say this i wanna make it clear that i am not trying to compare Silva to Bruce Lee, but think how much power Bruce Lee could generate using the one inch punch technique. so therefore it is not outside the realm of possibility that Anderson Silva, who is an extremely good Muay Thai expert would be able to generate enough power to knock some one out who he had already badly hurt twice from that close which was perfectly on the button when Forrest's momentum against him. look at Forrest head movement after the punch. PS sorry bought the spelling and grammar of my post. Silva is a legend bring on Silva vs GSP should be a great fight. i also think Demian Maia and Lyoto Machida have a good chance against him although i don't see these fights happening.

i dont think forrest broke/dislocated his jaw in that fight...had that been the case he wouldnt have been able to keep his mouth close and breathe through his nose. silva is a better boxer/striker, speed and accuracy is > size and strength if you dont know how to use it, also griffin doesnt have incredible foot work like silva.

Dana's gonna have a problem on his hands here pretty soon cause all of his belts are in the hands of completely dominant fighters.
GSP, Silva and Machida all don't look like they're losing anytime soon and have no real competition.
BJ Penn at least has some good fight prospects in his future but at his weight class he's still pretty much untouchable and if Brock can perform like his last fight consistently I don't know if any heavyweights currently signed to UFC can beat him either.

The first knock down, Silva caught Forrest right around the ear, which is a pressure point for easy knock out. Floored Forrest, but he got up and took a hook to the same spot. Probably would have floored a lot of people a second time. Forrest fights on the way he always does when he's hurt...stand and slug it out. Which works with many, but not with someone with Silva's handspeed and power. STUPID move for Forrest. Which leads to:
Knockdown #2; A left jab to Forrest's left jaw not too far in front of the already twice pounded pressure point that dropped Forrest the first time. Follow that up with the punches he took while on the ground and it set up:
The knockout. And yes, it was a knockout. Look where the punch landed. Right on the chin. Which drives the jaw straight back into the already three times weakened pressure point. And Forrest was out.
As for Forrest running off afterward. He and everybody else who thought he had a shot should have been embarrasses. I like Forrest. His work ethic, his heart and his physical toughness, but he is WAY over rated and was miles outside of his skill level stepping into the ring with Sylva. The only reason the match was made was because White knew Forrest would push the fight and slug it out and if Sylva fought the way he did in his last 2 fights, he would get punnished. White did this to either set Sylva up to have a hard fight that would knock him out of his complacency, or to motivate Sylva to fight with the talent he used to display. Sylva chose the second.

The fight was not fixed. Do some homework on human antaomy and you will find that when it comes to getting hit, it's not so much how hard you get hit, but WHERE you get hit that matters most. It doesnt take that much force to over load the nervous system if you get hit in just the right spot...."the button" as Joe Rogan likes to call it. If you get hit really hard on that spot you will be out for maybe minutes at a time (see Rashad Evans v.s. Lyoto Machida) if you take a decent shot it disorients you for a few seconds and then youre ok again.

In the prefight interview with Forrest he said that he got nothing to loose, whatabout you honor mr Griffin. The exit Forrest did was ridiculios, running and stumbling out from the arena, he always has funny things to say, no more fynny things to say mr jokerman.
Silva gave us all good lesson how good boxer he is, he didnt throw one kick, guarding himself from takedowns. Brilliant strategy, does who have seen Ufc all access with Andersson Silva, saw his incredible training when his teamate throw a small ball at him and his avoiding it by fast movements. That was what he was demonstrating in the ring making Forrest look off and slow.

You guys are so uneducated. Watch the fight again and count how many times anderson pegs forrest square on the chin. Forrest was completely drained when he shot in for the one, two, his arms and shoulders were down and his chin was out. He may have had an undisclosed concussion during training, which would explain his partial hearing loss after the fight, not to mention the fractured or broken jaw.
MMA doesn't rig fights, if anything you'd rig a match up. Forrest was matched against silva because silva had controversy over two lackluster performances by technical but reluctant fighters, joe silva knows forrest pushes pace, unfortunately he pushed pace against a much faster opponent.
there is a section where forrest throws left right left and anderson backs up one, rolls and ducks under the right, the backs up from the 3rd left and clocks him square, cant fake that shit, just next level talent.
All you haters and bench racers should try getting into a real fight and understand what it's like.

Forrest wasn't knocked out, he dislocated his jaw. That's why he waved to the referee to stop the fight then darted off to get treatment. Folk seriously one lackluster performance and all of a sudden Forrest is a crap fighter? This guy train more than 5 times a week; for months on end in the hope the he can go out there and fight a 15 minute battle (at best) and he always tries to put on a great show. I'm surprised more fighters don't breakdown after a loss, it must be hard to go through a tough training camp and lose. Regardless, Forrest will be back doing what he does best. And I really hope Dana White and Jow Silva look at this fight and line up a few more LHW for Anderson, there isn't anyone left for him at MW and maybe after his rematch with Hendo we'll see at least 2 more LWH matches for Anderson.

I think this might be the case really...I think Forrest is the pitcher though because he let his b*tch get the win. Isn't that how it works? Kidding of course. Silva sends mixed messages. Very classy before the bout with a bow and his normal routine. He's usually very respectful and offers praise about his opponents in interviews, then he acts like a fool inside the ring when he feels he has his opponent whipped. I like the guy, but then I don't at the same time. Great fighter though. So is Forrest really. He's pretty light on his feet but next to Silva he looks like a tree.

Did you notice about Silva's guard
He is left say handed. His right leg is in front of left which probably threw forrest out. Silva is real technical guy. Most MMA fighters are nothing but big bag of punches, they have no clue about martial arts. I can't believe the comments here by total idiots.
First off Silva would never fight Lesnar, thats why there are weight classes.
Nor will he fight Machida, he is already a champ and why get greedy and take something from a friend. Maybe if Machida loses his belt he would try for a second belt.
A GSP fight is pointless, hes not going to cut weight to fight a smaller weight class. And GSP certainly isnt going to put on weight to go up a class.
A boxer will never step into the octagon to fight an MMA fighter and no way would an MMA fighter box in a ring (unless maybe a spar match for charity).
Most fighters are going to stay in their own weight class, Anderson Silva has proven that he is that good by moving up a weight class and taking on a former champ in Forrest, the fight wasn't fixed, Forrest got beat, was embarrassed and left the ring.
Any comparisons to WWE is just wrong, its unfortunate that Lesnar fans have followed him to MMA, because most of those fans are idiots, they are 2 completely different forms of sports entertainment.
As far as I'm concerned, Lesnar should be fighting in a Super Heavy Weight class to make it more fair in the Heavy Weight class. Hes not a great fighter, hes just huge, and therefore should take on other huge fighters.

Silva is one of the best, if not the best, striker in MMA. Forrest is not. I am not sure why he thought that he could take Silva in a striking battle. I thought Forrest would try to get in close and take Silva down. Silva has fought twice at 205 and both guys didn't even try to use the size difference to their advantage. Someone needs to refuse to play Silva's game if they want to beat him. Both fighters got what they deserved in this fight.

if u look at the slow motion replay of the 1st and 2nd shots that rocked forrest you can just see the technical striking and power of anderson, and you will also see that forrest was in serious trouble from the first punch anderson landed cleanly.
all 90% of people want to see is big shots and brawling, that was all good when the most strategic fighters were tito and chuck but were ushering in a new wave of fighters who are more technical and more reserved in there fighting style. look at the light heavy ,middle, welter weight and lightweight champions, all very technical fighters and all very hard to beat. lesnar will be beaten by technical skill rather than power although it may take a year or 2 for the talent to arrive, it will happen.
big haymaker punches dont do shit, they look like they could take your head off but rarely hurt. when a fighter is KO'd by a big hook its generally the position he is hit rather than the power that puts him down, anderson silva uses fast and accurate punches rather than wild and ranging ones which is less impressive to watch but a lot more effective . the shot that ended the fight is my case in point, look at the slow motion replay , forrest had just thrown 3 punches, was off balance and had his mouth hanging open.look at silvas position, look at the transfer of weight through the legs and into the hips as the punch is thrown. look at where he hits forrest and look how forrests head snaps round, then look at the speed of the punch in real time. i dont care who you are, you get hit like that your going down mate!

Guys, his reasons for running away are far from mysterious... even if you've only watched UFC since the end of '06. Someone above me mentioned that Forrest is emotional....and he is (and has proven to be)! He probably didn't want to present himself the same way he did after his fight with Jardine, so he abruptly, made his exit from the cage and ran for the locker room. (If you don't know what I'm talking about watch the vid and you'll understand).
I do feel some, slight, pity for Forrest because he is a solid fighter. He just lost to Silva quicker then he should have because he seemed to let his fear get the best of him.

Honestly, this looked like forrest was paid to lose. Dana is furious that fedor wont fight in the ufc and so many people consider fedor the best fighter in the world. I think most white middle class MMA fans were holding onto the dream of a Grif victory, however unlikely.
The fact is that Silva is not going to stand there and let you slug him (though evidently he can if he wishes int he case of Grif) if he thinks you're dangerous.
He toyed with Forrest using superior mobility, physics and accuracy.
His dismantling was nothin' short of artistry. Unfortunately it was lost on the neanderthals in the audience. (did you see the laughable tussles?) Perhaps it was getting us ready for the co main event?!!
Silva needs to be tested. GSP, Machida or, at the very least, Fedor?
Also, Forrest you lost a fan in me tonight (and I had followed him for his "everyman" type of persona since the UF shows) not when you got owned by Silva but when you stormed out of the f^%$&'in cage prior to the annoucement. That is not what MMA is all about buddy.

If you watch closely Anderson hit Griffin with a hard right hook that knocked him down the first time. Griffin wasn't the same after that hit... That shot and the ground and pound that came right after really messed Forrest up, and he couldn't recover.

The only arguement of this fight being fixed I would have to say, is the issue regarding fedor. DW(and zuffa) were enraged about the hole issue so to smash idea of fedor being p4p best fighter, he exploited Asilva (because thats one of his biggest arguments when the topic is brought up. That Asilva or gsp is p4p top fighter) he probley forced Ailva to make an example out of forrest. Also because of the resent speculation regarding Asilva on his last 2 fights. I doubt DW would even taken the risk of asking forrest to throw a fight, forrest probley had a good grasp of the gravity of the siduation (regarding fedor and Asilvas last 2 fights) or he walked into the fight knowing this, so he came into the ring scared. You could see it in his facial expressions. I strongly belive this because UFC smashes on all compition at any cost, they were disappointed with Asilvas previous preformaces, and this was a good opportunity to detour fans away from fedor issue, The UFC company is a capitalist big coperation wallmart of sports. basicly and if you are a die hard MMA fan you know what im talking about. The Fix is in! Did you see Forrest check the clock only 15secs later to hit the mat with the Phantom punch. Anyone questioning the strength of the punch needs to watch the slo-mo replay again and should inspect how all of Silva's muscles on the right side (from waist to chin) tighten up, all at once. Then tell me he didn't hit Griffen with some force. Not only that, het got him precisely on the button (just like Anderson appeared to have it planned. Watch the sequence leading up to the straight shot) and let's be honest, Forrest isn't exactly known for having an iron jaw. Grif is also a 1 dimensional striker, which has always been perfect foder for Silva.
And seriously, if you think a fixed fight would play out that obviously...you may be too far gone to reach, so I'm not even going to bother contiuing further on this matter.

Griffin didnt throw the fight.. He was out at about 2:20 in round 1. Everything after that was him fighting on heart...the last light punch put him out. And I assume he ran off to his locker room, becuase he was emotional and didnt want to a. do something stupid.. b. make an excuse..I think forrest can still fight guys...just not the best in the world.

Damn, man, I knew Silva would win but I though there would be a bit of a slug fest. Forrest looked like he was going in slow motion the entire time, even more so after that first knockdown. After the knockdown, he looked like he was gassed. Was it bad conditioning? He seriously looked like he had been fighting for 2 full, hard rounds. I was thinking while watching Silva bob and weave, "Come on, move faster! His ****ing head's right there!" Silva's punch was like a Chuck KO. Well, at least we know Silva is still as good as he's always been.

As much as I understand wanting to believe that the outcome of this fight was predetermined (i.e. Griffin losing on purpose), I think there's too much at stake for UFC and Dana White to actually do something like that. Silva has the potential to sell out any fight night that he is a part of. But if he keeps getting these fights that are boring to the casual fan, and lacking in the intensity of his early UFC matches, then his appeal is going to drop. Silva has already dropped a spot or two in some of the "best pound for pound MMA fighter" lists for this very reason. So it doesn't make much sense, in my opinion, for UFC/Dana White to set up something like what we saw tonight. For all we know there were some circumstances that we, the viewers, are not aware of such as, for example, perhaps Griffin was suffering from an illness or dehydration or something.
Anyway, I have to agree that it wasn't the most exciting fight to watch, but at least it wasn't a 3 round chess match composed of nothing but feeler punches and some mundane ground and pound.

forrest didn't throw the fight. he was hurt from all the times he got knocked down by silva and at the end just couldn't take any more of it. he did a simliar thing against evans when he tapped from strikes. i guess forrest's heart isn't as big as it was before. either way, congrats to silva, even though he seems a bit cocky, he has the right to be, considering he's probably the best pound for pound fighter. truly impressive or embarassing depending on which side you're looking at it from.

Fighters go downhill after being knocked out a few times. Look at how Thunder Gotti took one of his last beatings from Mayweather -- his head was like Floyd's punching bag, and his problem was: he just wouldn't go down. Repetative head injuries are associated with severe loss of mood and suicides.

It's the way he lost, and the whole running off embarrassed,frustrated, what ever else.I felt that Silva would win this with minor difficulties but this was just so one sided I can see why some may jump to the conclusion it was fixed.Anderson basically used boxing skills vs MMA..right there.Boxing of course being a part of MMA as well in some degree but,.. yeah. His head movements and footwork along with his lighting quick counters made Forest look....like an amateur.

First of all, you could see that Griffin was tight, not loose, during the first (and only) round. Second, what striking skills Silva has, you are not going to learn to defend against in just a few years. Silva sees punches coming. Griffin's punches must have appeared to Anderson to have been in slow motion. Silva's ability to counterpunch is second to none in MMA. Silva was able to avoid the kicks of Griffin. Everything Griffin did was telegraphed to someone with the skills and reflexes of Silva.
To the fools who think that Griffin might have thrown the fight; you're idiots. Silva's skill level compared to Griffin is that of a man versus a child. Griffin reached the pinnacle of his career with the upset of Quinton Jackson. Forrest then proceeded to get KTFO by Rashad Evans, who was shown to be an amateur relative to Lyoto Machida. While styles make fights, neither Giffin nor Evans come close to having the skills of Silva or Machida. Heart can only take a fighter so far, and Forrest Griffin, while seemingly a nice guy, exemplified the Peter Principle (rising to your level of incompetence).
GSP will want NO PART of Anderson Silva. St. Pierre knew, essentially said that following his last victory, over Thiago Alves. Georges knows that he is not big enough to take on Anderson Silva.
Tonight, Silva's performance against Forrest Griffin was reminiscent of Muhammad Ali's victory over Cleveland Williams. As was the case tonight, Ali looked as if he were fighting a statue. That is how dominant a performance Silva had against Griffin. It was man versus child. And you idiots who think it was fixed; you don't need to fix a fight when a man fights a child, unless you have the child win.

The way Silva works the range can only be matched by Fedor. It's like millimeter precision when he avoids those punches. People that doesn't know about range and how it works simply have no idea what skill that takes, all they see is the end result. Simply astonishing. The jab wasn't the hardest but perfectly placed on the button and adding to the build-up of neurotransmitters (which is what basically knocks you the **** out, a overflow of chemicals confusing and overloading your brain).
Machida is good at it too but he works more with speed and anticipation - how his talent matches against Silva's is vey hard to predict but I don't think he can catch him tbh.

That was a great fight Anderson Silva is technically the best fighter out there. I am glad to see Anderson stepping up to a higher weight class he makes all of the fighters in his wight class look like amateurs and when he fights it is more like a sparring match to him he is not out there to hurt anybody he will outclass and out move any fighter out there. I was really hoping to see Forrest give him a reason to actually fight but as usual Anderson tore down his game and made him look weak and powerless he is in a class by himself hands down.
