    the way bj threw that counter right in the first round was perfect!.
    so many fighters in that position would have thrown a wide hook and missed behind the head of the oncoming fighter. but to straighten and shorten it like that shows just how good his boxing is.

    When they fought Penn, Sanchez and Florian both seemed to be attempting to employ the Strategy St-Pierre used to dominate Penn in their last fight. These guys just aren't capable of doing that to Penn. If these smaller guys want to take Penn down and beat him up, they're going to have to out box him and rock him first.

    I'm still a Diego fan. The guy has years to keep improving. His striking was just not there, and if you can't pressure BJ you can't make him gas. And that was Diego's biggest advantage.

    If he was going to 170 to fight St. Pierre anyway his next two opponents should be 170 contenders. I say that not to hold him back but give him the best chance to beat St. Pierre. Maybe if he gets used to the weight class with some slightly less difficult people he might be ready to kick some more ass.

    I was very impressed with how BJ paced himself, waiting patiently for an opportunity to strike, which was evident in the 5th round. Diego on the other hand, was fighting not to lose, instead of winning. He didn't adjust his striking techniques since his game plan went out the door. It seems that he was trying to survive the rounds hoping for a decision. I am total believer and loyal fan when it comes to BJ, because he has "Mana."

    bj dominates 155. gsp at 155 = bj losing. don't even make that badrgument ever again.     During all the UFC promo's for this event i was thinking it's Diego that's going to have a nightmare not BJ Penn, but man oh man, he took a worse beating than I ever expected. I expected a third round K.O....and Diego would have been better getting K.O'ed in the third. After all his mean face scare tactics ... he deserves what he got ...     BJ wasnt just outclassing him this fight. He was out smarting him aswell. Did you see every time diego even looked like trying to go for a takedown. BJ backed up onto the fence so diego could pick him up and dump him backwards. The whole fight, watch it. Thats why it looked so stupid when diego was going for takedowns the whole time up against the fence, but infact it was BJ backing up onto it to stuff the take down. Smart fighting right there.

    In hindsight, the fight seems like anybody could have predicted this outcome. BJ has great take down defense, which gives him the option to pick Diego apart little by little standing up. Diego is a worthy opponent, but BJ's skill set presents a bad match up for him.

    BJ is better than gsp, just smaller. I have never been a BJ fan until tonight. I always wanted someone to stop him but when gsp did BJ was not in this kind of physical shape. I think a rematch with BJ and GSP would be different if he was the way he was tonight. Goerge just out layed him in the last ones. Don't get me wrong on the part that GSP is still a great fighter but he is a hard working fighter where BJ is without a doubt a born fighter.

    I agree with the guy a few posts up. There isn't any legit fighters at 155 for BJ any more, but Jose Aldo at 145 which BJ could cut to would be a great fight. Problem is I don't think BJ would want to fight out of the UFC mainstream even though UFC owns WEC. Honestly though Aldo is the most well rounded fighter his like a smaller GSP and would actually have the hands to box with BJ. Thats the fight I want to see

    BJ finally impressed me. No lightweights out there to challenge what he demonstrated vs Sanchez. UFC has been giving Sanchez soft fights to boost the bible-thumper's ego; when he finally sees a serious threat he gets his ass handed to him. His god abandoned him, and I'm glad.     Diego looked like a different fighter in here -- in a bad way. Gone was his cockiness and self-assuredness he's had against past opponents. He rushed into the middle of the ring and then just sort of backed off. BJ knocked some humility and a sense of mortality into him. This isn't to say Diego sucks or anything, just that BJ is just that good. It's like Diego was barely a challenge for him. Plus, BJ's improved conditioning really showed here. Good job to both fighters but it looks like BJ's gonna have that belt for another few years or maybe until he retires. My only hope is that he fights more than twice a year. BJ fought 3 times this year but this was a rarity. He should be forced to fight at least 3 times a year as there are a lot of guys hungry for the belt. Let's not also forget the fans who want to see him fight more. Fortunately, it looks like he's done messing around at WW so let's hope BJ's new attitude of "just have fun" causes him to fight more often.

    The problem with the LW as it is with most of the UFC weight classes, is that there's a few guys that can actually fight and a whole bunch of american showmen who's there to build the hype.

    In PRIDE there was a whole bunch of no name fighters from all nationalities and they could all fight. Sure, there were some japanese stiffs, but they weren't even near as plentyful and hyped as the american stiffs.

    "Greatest LW of all time" they say, but he's defended it 3 times against a midget, a skinny geek and a crazy latino who doesn't know how to box for the life of him...

    BJ has officially cleaned out the LW division, maynard and edgar or anyone else wouldnt stand a chance. It really is time to give BJ a couple welterweight fights just to challenge him, the winner of Trigg v. Serra would be a good call, as a former WW champ it would be a good test for Penn and a good measuring stick to see where Trigg/Serra stands in the division (even tho penn's not in the div). Also i really would like to see Penn v Aoki just so Penn could destroy him. Aoki cant stand up with him, cant take him down and i dont even think he could submit him if penn took the fight to the ground, hansen would have a better chance then aoki but still not a realistic one. The fight i'd really like to see actually is BJ Penn vs Nick DIaz - he's one guy i really miss in the ufc

    BJ Penn might run threw the rest of this weight class. He dominated Diego on this night. If you watch the whole fight Diego really never gets anything good.
