UFC 109 Bonuses: Serra, Thiago, Chael Sonnen and Nate Marquardt receive $60,000 prize money

UFC 109: Relentless delivered entertainment above expectations with wonderful fights between some of the toughest competitors in The Octagon. UFC management have confirmed that the main eventers Matt Serra, Paulo Thiago, Chael Sonnen and Nate Marquardt will all add $60,000 prize money to their original salary.

Nate "The Great" Marquardt and Chael sonnen awarded "Fight of the Night" honor for their three-round bloodbath. Chael Sonnen delivered an upset by winning a decision against Marquardt, who was considered by many fans as a clear favorite to earn another shot at Anderson Silva.

Matt "The Terror" Serra proved everyone he still has plenty to give inside The Octagon by knocking out Frank Trigg. Serra earned a prestigious "Knockout of the Night" award. Brazilian Paulo Thiago submitted American Kickboxing Academy product Mike "Quick" Swick with a modified Anaconda Choke, showing that his BJJ game is second to none in the UFC Welterweight division. Thiago will take to Brazil $60,000 and a "Submission of the Night" award.

Next UFC event will be UFC 110 on Saturday, February 20, 2010 in Sydney, Australia at the Acer Arena. It will be the first UFC event in Australia, with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira vs. Cain Velasquez as the main event. British prospect Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva will be featured in the co-main event of the evening.

This was AGAIN another card headlined by two old boring farts including one who hasnt had money to train it seems a few months (its better than my dog ate my homework) but looks like he;s been away for a decade.
\Of course, if you cant give quality, you go for name recognition by using fighter who USED to be someone a long time ago... wandy, croshit, Nog. This explains why the PRIDE vault has been opened. To remind the UFC only crowd that these guys were once the best in the world. Once upon a time.

The only remotely interesting thing was that front choke.

You can try to convince you that this was interesting but it has no basis in reality. The Trigg fight was a bigger joke than advertised, the 15 wrestling humpfest beyond boring and the old farts as predictable as expected.

If they are willing to HEADLINE Coleman then I have no doubt that Don Frye will also end his retirement so he can bring his stache back.

Chael vs Marquardt was outstanding. People who can't appreciate different mma disciplines and their respective virtues (like wrestling), should stick with retard-wrestling wwf crap. IMHO. Couture Coleman had to happen sometime, both are legends.

Also, everyone was better in pride because they were roided psychotic. Ever wonder why Jackson was known for his epic trademark power-slams in Pride, but hasn't ever pulled one off in the UFC?

There is a reason that 95% of the Pride competitors did not transition. And it's not because they just don't like money or MMA anymore.
