RaMpage
Yes, Griffin was more active, but he landed no punches.
His kicks were good, right.
Rampage got that slame, Griffin goes down in 1th round,
heavy uppercut, and and and...
It was Rampages fight ! ! !

I don't understand what fight the judges saw, cause for me, Jakson won clearly the round 1, 3, 4 and maybe the 5... nice fight, weird decision :-s

my unbiased opinion
round 1- jackson
griffin landed a couple effective leg kicks and o.k. knees but jackson stunned him and knocked him down at the end of the round.
round 2- griffin
griffin won that round 10-8. just pure domination. good transitions but he probably didn't do as much damage as he wanted to. short choppy elbows but he definitely won that round. i think he won 10-8.
round 3- jackson
not too many leg kicks this round except for the one that hit rampage's thigh but he quickly reacted by stunning griffin with a left hook. jackson's leg began to loosen up. i believe jackson was able to pick up the round. he stunned griffin multiple times and definitely landed more strikes.
round 4- jackson
i believe this or round 1 was jackson's best round. early on he lands a flurry of punches and seconds later lands big uppercuts. i think griffin attempted to trip rampage. you can see him hook rampage's leg but rampage counters with a takedown. griffin was very close to finishing the fight with a triangle but rampage escapes with an impressive slam. rampage stuns griffin again as he begins.
round 5- griffin or jackson
both fighters landed effective strikes griffin controlled the beginning of the round. he was the aggressor but jackson came back at the end of the round. griffin landed a nice kick in the last two minutes and rampage responds with a couple of punches griffin throws a couple knees and rampage fought back again. honestly this round can go either way.
i was impressed that griffin avoided being knocked out by jackson and put up a good fight but i was pretty sure rampage won. but lets assume griffin won the final round, the fight would have been a draw. i was shocked to see that griffin won unanimous, 48-46, 48-46, and 49-46. even he was shocked as bruce buffer announces the winner you see a flash of anger in griffin and he attempts to walk away from the ref at 35:53.
i don't want to sound like a complainer so i'll stop bantering. forrest won and nothing i say can change that but ask your self this, did forrest stun rampage at all during the fight? did he knock him down with a strike? did he even take him down? i definitely give him the 2nd round for dominating rampage on the ground. and he had some great leg kicks in round 1 and 2 and good leg kicks in the final round. his leg kicks in round 1 were answered by jackson's knock down. rounds 1, 3, and 4 belong to rampage. he stunned him multiple times. virtually everybody in the arena wanted forrest to win the fans chanted his name multiple times. the judges were definitely biased as some of the people commenting are. don't get me wrong the leg kicks were nothing short of great but jackson's highlights (e.g. takedown, slam, knockdown, stunning punches and combos) were overlooked. this fight should have ended in a draw or a rampage decision.

Since everyone is on the Machida bandwagon now and think wlovever Machida says is the gospel, Machida said that "Rampage won that fight but the UFC wants someone that Liddell can beat". I personally think Rampage won but that fight was close as hell and the desicion wouldnt have surprized me going in either direction.

I know this happened in July of 08, but I am sick of people who won't see the facts in front of their faces. Here is a round for round breakdown of who won each round (a little subjective, but not too much.)
Round 1- Rampage, obviously! His knockdown of Griffin wins him this one. The way Griffin stopped him from doing anything else, however, kept it close. Rampage 10-9
Round 2- Griffin. He almost broke Jackson's knee! Then he proceeded to GnP him for the next 3 minutes.
Griffin 10-8
Round 3- Griffin. Like the rest of the fight, this round was closer than the last 2, thus harder to determine. If you look closely, however, you will see that Rampage can't put his full weight on his injured knee, limiting his striking. Griffin doesn't have any such limitations and uses it to his advantage.
Griffin 10-9
Round 4. Rampage. His knee looks fully rested. He takes it to Griffin a bit this round. Shows why he was the champ in the first place...
Rampage 10-9
Round 5: Griffin. This was the toughest call. Both fighters had phenomenal striking. Griffin apears to have done more damage, though, earning him the round and the fight.
Tallying those totals we get:
Rampage: 10+8+9+10+9= 46
Griffin: 9+10+10+9+10= 48
Even if you give Rampage round 5, he still cant win:
Rampage: 10+8+9+10+10= 47
Griffin: 9+10+10+9+9= 47
They draw.

Forrest clearly won Rampage even said it He has all my respect. Yes Rampage did hit hard but Forrest was non stop kicking, punching and ground and pound . The next fight will be interesting Rampage will go all out but Forrest is illusive and if Rampage doen't connect Forrest will win again by submission. You can bet on it.

It was a fair call, if u watch the fight closely u see that forrest was the leadin man he kept pushin rampage toward the cage which gives him ring control thats where he scored some of his points, rampage could have won if he would have chased forrest around the ring more.

Forrest was on his bike, in and out, and fought a more technical fight and won. Not as exciting as a brawl, but he slowed Rampage down with the leg kicks and controlled most of the fight. I enjoy the more technical fighters like Machida, GSP and Cung Le that use strategy to defeat opponents that are bigger or stronger.

Forrest only lost round 2? Well, i think that was the only round he actually won, it was pretty close in the 5th, but all the others... 10-9 for rampage. someone here said it correctly, and if YOU knew a d*** about UFC you would see it too, it's plain simple, bruce buffer should've announced it as the real decision: all judges scored 48-46 (and 49-46) for some extra cash, making a saga between griffin and jackson to earn their boss twice as more money, thus declaring the winner forrest griffin!

Round 5 - Once again a very close round. But I give the upper hand to Rampage on this one. He stayed in the center of the octagon more, his punches were more effective, and proved to be the more aggressive fighter, Rampage - 10 Forrest - 9 Total Score Rampage - 46 Forrest - 48 My score is the same as two of the three judges from the fight. I think it was a great fight, and I believe that Forrest won fair and square. He'll make a great champion and I can't wait to see his next fight. Wish I could say the same for Rampage but he decided to lose his mind and is being evaluated by mental health professionals.

Round 4 - Within the first minute of the round Griffin takes a few shots and pulls guard. But while in guard sinks in a deep triangle which only proves Forrest pulling guard to be a smart strategic move. He then nearly pulls off an Omaplatta but doesn't fully cinch it. Meanwhile, the entire time spent on the ground (where Forrest decided to take the fight) Rampage has inflicted NO damage, but Forrest is unhappy with the outcome of being on the ground so what happens? Forrest gets back up. They trade a few shots, none of which do much damage. Once again we have a VERY close round, but once again I personally give the round to Griffin seeing as how he came close to victory twice, while Rampage cant say he came close even once. He may have spent more time on top, but top is not dominating when all you are doing is catching your breath and nearly being submitted. Rampage - 9 Forrest - 10 Round 5 - Once again a very close round. But I give the upper hand to Rampage on this one. Round 1 - Forrest was winning the round till he got dropped with a shot; Even though he made a quick recovery (back up on his feet in less than 60 sec) You cant say he was hurt too bad considering he immediately dropped down and pulled a very effective guard immediately. Rampage - 10 Forrest - 9 Round 2 - Total domination by Forrest Griffin. Rampage didnt make a single intimidating move the entire round and was almost submitted on top of being mounted 80% of the round. Rampage - 8 Forrest - 10 Round 3 - Rampage would prob win on aggression due to his ferocious combinations, but I would say Griffin's striking was more effective, and he definately wins on Octagon control. He was standing in the center of the Octagon the whole time while Rampage was being backed up into the wall. This was a very close round and I will admit to it possibly being called either way. Rampage - 9 Forrest - 10 Round 4 - Within the first minute of the round Griffin takes a few shots and pulls guard. But while in guard sinks in a deep triangle which only proves Forrest pulling guard to be a smart strategic move. He then nearly pulls off an Omaplatta but doesn't fully cinch it. Forest won fight. Even fight until 1:12 in first, then Forrest got rocked, Ramp did nothing after that except two blows when Forrest got back up. Forrest won 2nd 10-8, not up for discussion, Won 3rd, Ramp threw 32 punches the whole 3rd round, Forrest may have landed 32 kicks alone, and dominated last minute of 3rd. Lost close fourth, dominated 5th. I know it hurts Ramp fans, but the judges got it right. It was a scoring contest, not a one-punch affair, Forest clearly out scored Ramp.

You guys are missing the BIG picture. Pride is no longer in the picture. It is all about money. Even though Pride clearly fixed some of its fight like the earliar UFC fighters pay testimony, Rampage will never fess. Rampage has a BIG family that he wants to see go to college and beyond. A real man. They are now entertainers first and foremost. The object is to make as much money as possible no matter who loses. Even the Champ. Rampage is here to stay. Well Done. "You can't handle the Truth."

Good fight. You people that think Rampage won don't understand MMA. It isn't just a toughman contest. Forrest's ground game was better than Rampage's. Rampage threw less punches and / or kicks. The few he landed were hard ones though. Forrest threw many kicks and punches and connected many. He won the fight, like the judges scored it. It wasn't fixed, that is just conspiracy talk from trailer trash that think they could do what those UFC guys do.

I love griffin but you should have to do a hell of a lot more than that to beat the champ. This is MMA, not boxing. I had quinton winning 1,3 and 4 and the 5th was a toss up. Griffin was definitely the aggressor, but thats it.

Rampage got PAID to THROW the fight. Just watch the first minute and it is clear that Rampage is running. Rampage stalked and hunted Chuck Lidell but runs from Forrest Griffin? Nope. It was ALL set up. The only who might not know is Forrest. I do not blame anyone. No one is really at fault. However, it is nonetheless terribly disappointing for the true MMA fan.

Finally an educated comment, there hasn't been many. For all of you pissed off and think the fight is fixed, please turn your back on UFC so we never have to hear from you again. The one time Ramapage TRULY had Griffin in trouble and had him on the ground, Forest did a great job of controlling Jackson's hands to minimize the ground & pound. I think it was a very good fight and came down to strategy and conditioning. I would like to say congratulations to Forest, and look forward to seeing both fighters fight again.

Awesome fight, poor Rampage, from experience I know what it's like to lose tempo in a fight, and that's what did him in, he was forced to fight Griffin's fight. Either way it was definitely Forest's win, the judges wouldn't score it any other way, they look for aggression, who presses the attack, and it's not Pride so no points for takedowns. Jackson even makes the comment at the end about being off too long...9 months or wlovever, you could see he was hesitating the entire fight and it cost him.

did anyone notice the highlights that were chosen PRIOR to the decision? all they showed were Griffin's two leg kicks, and no replays of any of Rampage's many punches. they didn't even show rampage lifting up Griffin which i would say was the most visually stunning part of the fight. the producers picked those highlights because they knew the decision before it was announced. ufc is fixed. rampage didn't complain because he's gonna get a huge payday out of a rematch.

did anyone notice the highlights that were chosen PRIOR to the decision? they showed repeated views of griffin's two leg kicks, but did not show any of the blows that rampage landed (there were many). they didn't even show Quinton lifting Griffin up in round 4, which was one of the most visually stunning moments of the fight. clearly, the producers made a decision to show the kicks because they knew who was going to win.

if the judges say forrest won the fight then he won, dana white isnt the kind of guy that lets a fight become rigged, you can tell that. they need to fight again, because this is just un settled business. if any of you are smart enough to be judges, then why arent you judging these fights. this wall is full of opinions saying rampage won, rampage didnt get a 10- 8 in any round. round 1 10-9 rampage round 2 10-8 forrest round 3 10-9 forrest round 4 10-9 rampage round 5 10-9 forrest overall=48-46 because forrest struck more and had more energy.fight could have gone either way, disagree and you pretty much have no clue about fighting

This was a great fight! I do agree with the decision. Forrest fought the better fight. Obviously forrest Thought more through the fight, you can see it in his face alot. Rampage is a good fighter though, dont get me wrong. He seems alot like Tyson was. More of a power hitter, not a technical fighter. Forrest had more technique. I'm sure the judges voted more on that, and forrest had more. If forrest hadn't thought things out the way he had, he might have got knocked out by some of those hits rampage was throwing. But yea, great job to the both of them, congrats forrest!

For all you who watch UFC and think rampage won.. your thinking that because rampage landed a few hits that dropped him. but thats only worth the same score as a landed hit to rampage a fully landed hit is same score weather or not he falls.. if one ends up on top of the other points are being gained. but he didint always have forest on the ground doing damage. griffin won round 1-2 and round 5, look at the points he lands more overall hits. hes better conditioned griffin didint win by a longshot. but he did have a overall better score. rampage even said in his confrence, he couldint get comfortable on his hurt legg and round 1 he couldint find his mark

this fight was a joke. Those little leg kicks of Forrest wouldn't hurt my 3 month old kitten let alone Jackson. This again is another example that the UFC is fixed. They pay their fighters peanuts,. The owners should be embarrassed. I'm looking forward to the day where the men and women of this fight game are able to go at it like the true warriors they are and not be influenced by corruption. I'm not blaming Quinton by any means. The fighters have a limited career time and in the end, feeding your family is the only "real means to an end". Adios

Seriously do any of you even know what your talking about. Rampage rocked Griffin Early but did nothing the rest of the fight but eat leg kicks. If you guys say they didnt hurt him then why could he barley walk. theres one round a pieace. Then Forest got him in a triangle and probably got close to a submission. slaming is a last stich effort when you cant get out the right way. Now griffin is winning and the rest of the fight he beat him with points landing jabs and leg kicks. Watch Rampages leg buckle after every kick. hes a big strong guy and is very tough so you know he was hurting. Get over the upset and fixed stuff they fought hard and one guy won and the other lost. Rampage said it him self 50/50 chance.

Everyone on here talkin bout Forrest using kicks and the fight was fixed are stupid. Let a trained pro kick you in the knee and see how bad it hurts. They were backin up because they have respect for what the other is capable of. Get a couple of fights under your belt and then you can comment and criticize how pros fight.

You could tell before the fight started that Rampage needed a knockout to win this match. His power punching style just doesn't score that well compared to Forrests' constant action. But this decision just makes it easier for Anderson Silva to take the belt, since Rampages power is a worse match for Silva.

Think the fight shows they both have heart no doubt. From a scoring stand point there is no doubt that Forrest won the fight, those questioning that need to watch the fight again and be objective. Rampage has the power over Forrest by a lot and was certainly only a shot or two away if landed cleanly.

I thought that this was a good fight but I did not agree with the decision. Rampage was the more dominant fighter in three out of five rounds. Dana White definately wanted these two to have a saga between themselves so he can make more money off them. In my opinion the UFC is fixing fights to make more money and put in their eyes who they want to win.

1ST Round 2:10 - Rampage lands devastating combos to Griffin making his legs very unstable. 1ST Round 1:13 - Rampage lands a massive Uppercut dropping Griffin instantly. Than eats more bombs raining down on him! As Griffin tries to shake off the initial blows! 1ST Round Entire Time - Griffin throws jabs and kicks to the leg/ knee portion of Rampage. 2ND Round - Griffin throws more jabs and kicks to the leg/knee portion of Rampage Resulting in a dominate position/Side mount Griffin round. 3RD Round 3:02 - Rampage unleashes a fury that cripples Griffin once more! 3RD Round Entire Time - Griffin still throwing jabs and kicks that aren't fading Rampage. No power punches that is doing any kind of major damage towards Rampage. 4TH Round 4:30 - Griffin receives more combos standing with Rampage resulting in getting knocked out for a very brief moment once again with Rampage having a full mount control. Eats a few elbow & punches by Rampage. 4TH Round 1:59 - Griffin tries to scramble from the full guard onto his feet and receives Devastating blows from Rampage as Griffin rises almost resulting in another knock out. 5TH Round - Griffin throws more of the same, jabs with no power behind them and more leg kicks which after the 2nd round have stop connecting or have any affect. 5TH Round 1:11 - Griffin lunges forward , throws a combo of his own only to have been met by Rampage's counter. Griffin taking a devastating combo of his own spins with his back turned to prevent from taking anymore abuse. 5TH Round Final 15 seconds - Both Rampage and Griffin let it all go both men starts swinging for the fences, Rampage gaining the upper hand makes Griffin close in the distance with a grapple, sneaking in some needed points before the final bell rings with some frantic knees toward Rampage's mid section. And Rampage still lost? Huh? Who's judging this fight? A blind Person? LOL!
