UFC Quick Quote: I can’t retire (Chuck), but he gave me his word

“I can’t retire him, but he gave me his word that he was going to retire so … To be honest with you, he and I have talked, and he has said, yes, he will retire … So we’ll see what happens. He and I are getting together next week … We’re going to get together and talk about a lot of things. He’s coming into town, and we’ve got a lot to talk about.”

Chuck will become like Muhammad Ali if he fights one more time. Even if he takes one more jab from Seth Petrezelli, he will die.

Chuck has signs of brain damage from all his wars. He has trouble putting together a coherent sentence most of the time. Dana is asking him to retire to hopefully stop any more damage. Check out Dana's video blog from the Macida Evans fight when he calls Chuck. He's just mumbling. In all his (Chuck's) recent interviews he seems mentaly slower than he used to be.

Person Above: Good point, Dana looks like a power freak and would make sure that he does not loose any of his power to anyone.

The reason Dana wants Chuck to retire is Chuck has mainstream draw. Is because Dana can't justify putting Chuck in the ring with Lyoto or any of the other top fighters in the UFC. If Chuck doesn't retire and goes to fight at Strikeforce or Affliction and has some good crowd pleasing fights Dana looses audience and power.

F*** it. Throw him in there with Lyoto and see if he can still fight. If Chuck still has fire in his belly he should take some time to get in great shape and see if he can squeeze out another win.

If Chuck want to fight, I say let him fight. But if he gets destroyed by a nobody he will only have himself to blame for diminishing his reputation and becoming a joke like Ken Shamrock who's lost his last 10 fights??

Dont even come back until you learn to keep your fricking hands up, otherwise you are wasting everyone's time including your own.

Machida, Shogun, Rampage, Cane, Sokodju, Griffin, evans etc...

We should respect Chuck but to be honest he is not top figter anymore,
mma world is going forward and chuck is behind the best fighters roght know.

Look at Iceman carrer how many guys he fouht a few times and thatn look at some of them??

Dana gave him fighters who's style is easy to beat for iceman.
thana knows tahta there are a lot of better fighters than him and he can't fight good really strikers.
years ago he was the top fighter but now he is NOT.

Don't look for the past , today we have much highier level of mma than few years ago.

listen guys, Chuck is who he is. His one of the hardest hitting mother$#$#$# in all of MMA. That is a fact, and on any given day he can beat anyone. He his older but I think he has a motivational problem, I mean Its like he wants to fight but not like he used to want to fight. And he would destroy the Ace. No Question. The fact is fighters have started to figure him out. How long did that take. 3-4 years, and he is supposed to change the way he fight overnight. I don't think so. He has been the most dominant fighter the UFC has had, and people want to talk about how old he is. The man has accomplished more than any other fighter, so give him some respect.

I like too see Chuck fight again... but its not going to happen in the ufc i think he should become a trainer the reason why i say this is if he went to strikeforce.. pride ect... it make him look like a clown look at the rest of ufc hasbeens they are getting paid but their reps been stomped... Chuck is better than that ..Dana is doing the right thing by protecting Chuck

Play taps for Chuck. Dana's doing the right thing and trying to protect his friend. Both of these guys don't need anymore money. When's the last good fight Chuck had or one that you can really say he was in it until.....

I just say what I think about what dana is doing. This is buisness so i don't know why it should be bad if he will set next fight for iceman because of money... despite of that it would be great for this sport to let Chuck fight again. Dana and chuck are friends so dana don't want to see his next loss. I would really want to se Chuck fight again with somebody from the top , and i would win some money at his defeat

I garentee if Dana was to come out tomorrow saying Chuck vs ??? at UFC 105 people would be complaining Dana was just doing this for money and not for Chuck. There is no win with you people.

Dana is doing what he's doing because he has created iceman.
He knows that there are a lot of much better fighters than Chuck and he don't want to see the fall of Chuck Lidell , he just want to people remember him as a great champion , not overrated marceting product...

don't understand why Dana is so determined to push Chuck to retire from the USC. For one, Chuck isn't too old to fight (Mark Coleman isn't as good a fighter, but he's still hanging in there despite 2 devastating losses)...Second, any Chuck fight will bring a lot of money for Dana and the UFC. I still don't understand how Dana sees this case.
