two warriors for sure. Cain velazques did what he had to do to win. He got rocked and that made no difference. Very impressive chin. Yea he was "wrestling" alot but notice that he never went for submissions. He never stopped punching. Needs to finish tho

Kongo got outmuscled, outstrenghed and got beat the buck up! Cain is no joke granted he needs to finish his fights sooner, but the way he dominated Kongo and picked him up and slammed him on the ground time in time again, shows raw power, and hopefully he'll work on his boxing and standup! Cain is no joke, he practically owned Kongo!

    Kongo Training
All Kongo gets paid to do is train and compete in MMA. He has no ground game, shocking and a disgrace. Fighters like Frank Mir and Kenny Florian etc are improving and Kongo is stagnant.
It is MMA not just boxing or kick-boxing.

Shocking display, he should thank his stars it wasn't Shane Carwin on him.

This was the first time i've seen cain velasquez, and I must say that i didnt see any explosivity the entire round from him. often it's like this: youve either got it or you dont, i myself struggle with the explosivity part. cain should really work on that.

I dont know why everyone is surprized at the lack of ground game of Kongo. He has never had a ground game. Cain is certainly nothing special at this point. Everything he got in that fight, Kongo gave it to him. Its funny how the whole fight took place in one spot. At the beginning of each round Kongo stayed at his corner of the cage and didnt circle, pivet, or even move around in which all strikers know how to do including Kongo. Instead he just stood their trapping himself. In my opinion Kongo beat himself.

Cain has pretty good ground game, but I see serious holes in his striking.
Like most wrestlers, they need to learn head movement, most of the time they are stiff.
If Cain can get his boxing skills to another level, he might do good. His present skills wont get any titles.

From a completely unbiased point of view. Cain was obviously the better wrestler and he will have alot more trouble taking down a guy like Brock Lesnar who is probably a better wrestler than Cain. In the stand-up Kongo was the better man but this does not mean that Cain's stand-up is sub par. I think Cain's next match-up should be someone that will deny him the take down and force him to fight in the stand-up, then we will find out alot more about Cain other than that he can take down his opponent.

everyone thinks that just because cain did not knock out check kongo means that he does not have strong hands. Answer this when was the last time kongo got knocked out. not every fighter gets knocked out all the time. kongo is a big guy that could take a beating. everyone who does not understand the ground game just has to shut up and not say nothing. he did not ride out no fight. he did what lesnar did to heath herring, that was beat on him the whole fight. fighters like matt hughes ride out the fight to win, just like he did to matt serra.

I saw kongo fight a couple years ago and he had the same problem then as now, a total lack of ground skills. His coaches are idiots. They should have had him working towards a black belt in jiu-jitsu for the few years. Just imagine Kongo with some legit jiu-jitsu skills. He'd be a serious contender for the belt.

if this fight would be in standing Velasquez woulden't take even half a round with kongo. Thats what i don't like in mma - too much wrestling and i love when the better fighter loose because of that.

Velasquez, I think, deserved to win. He trained to find out Kongo's weaknesses and he clearly found out that his wrestling skills overruled Kongo's by far. I think he's a clever fighter but if he comes against somebody with a greater ground game and better takedown defence it will be pretty tough.
